There’s nothing like seeing your work in print and then performing it (alongside 7 incredible poets) to an audience able and willing to feel something 🔥

Thank you @___presenttense, @bianca___pina, Jessica Todd, @hatopress , and everyone involved in making this happen

carne viva was written last year for one of @wiltonway_literary salons (the space that made me into a poet), during a turbulent time where I was revisiting (and demolishing) all my concepts of love, sex, freedom, womanhood, community, persecution, reinvention, rebirth. I’ve been deconstructing things my whole life, and I’m excited to continue doing so.

It felt apt to do this in Newington Green, around the corner from where Mary Wollstonecraft had her school and used to gather with other major non-conformists to debate political and religious dissent. 300 years later, mama, we’re still at it.

(Yes I have opinions on Maggi Hambling’s infamous statue, but they don’t matter as much as having that statue there) 🫶🏽🫶🏽 taken in Newington Green by @glittah
