There are about 500 wild horses along the Salt River in the Tonto National Forest east of Phoenix, Arizona. These two are a mother-daughter pair. Penny is on the left (mom), and Penelope is on the right (her daughter).

These wild horses are mostly of mustang descent and are protected by Arizona state law. The are managed by a wonderful organization with many dedicated volunteers: https://saltriverwildhorsemanagementgroup.org

I climbed Roy’s Peak on my recent trip to New Zealand’s South Island. There were beautiful and expansive views of Lake Wanaka, the Southern Alps, and Mt Aspiring National Park from the summit.

The climb started from near the lake below with an elevation gain of 4,281’ (1,305 m).

Shortly after sunrise at Aoraki / Mount Cook, New Zealand's highest mountain (12,218 ft (3,724 m)). Lake Pukaki is in the foreground. It is an intense, milky-blue color caused by ground-up rock flour in the water from the glaciers that feed the lake.

Tandem paragliding this week over Queenstown, New Zealand! The last time I was here, I ticked the boxes for tandem skydiving and a 440' bungy jump. This time I decided to add tandem paragliding to the list. With pilot Tom at the controls, we took a running leap off a cliff on Ben Lomond, a mountain that towers over the city, and we had a beautiful, exhilarating glide down for a landing in a field below! A male Andean Condor on the ground in the wilds of Patagonia. With wingspans up to 10 ft 10 in (3.3 m), you can see them soaring for hours in the Patagonia winds without flapping their wings. This is the largest bird of prey in the world by combined wingspan and weight (up to 33 lb (15 kg)). They have lifespans of up to 70 years and can fly as high as 16,000 ft (~5,000 m).
