🎉 CARNIVAL MAGIC - TICKETS DROP MONDAY 9AM!

As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, the spectacular Carnival Magic returns to the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom for an unforgettable night of music, light, and carnival celebration!

Created by the world-renowned Global Grooves, expect giant hand-crafted puppets, high-energy drumming, vibrant dancers, and exciting surprises including IOLA 2.0, the giant robot bringing futuristic mayhem to the dance floor! You can even take to the dance floor and join in! 🥁

Not long to go now, come and warm yourselves up this autumn with some Cuban Carnival! We're so excited to present this amazing opportunity to study with Christian Weaver of La Timbala.

Cuban Carnival: Introduction to El Mozambiqué
🗓 6 week short course (every Thursday eve)

You don’t need any experience of Cuban music. An open mind and a desire to learn something new will go a long way to helping you on this course.

This short course is an introduction to the carnival music known as El Mozambiqué, developed by percussionists Pello el Afrokan in Cuba towards the end of the 1950s. El Mozambiqué developed the traditional percussions, brass and vocal music of carnival with new hybrid rhythms, mixed with existing parts to create a new style that swept the island!

Free Carnival Puppetry Training!

We’re offering three free training places for aspiring puppeteers from Tameside interested in learning about performing with our Carnival puppets, rooted in traditions and folklore from across the world.

Led by experienced puppeteers Stefan & Rowan, the session will be hands on, colourful, and collaborative - focusing on movement, narrative, character, and safe operation.

Training will be scheduled based on availability during the first half of November and takes place here at: @the_vale_mossley, Unit 2, Vale Mill, Off Micklehurst Road, Mossley, OL5 9JL

Funk Carioca Masterclass with @robertosoli_ 🇧🇷🔥

In this workshop, we’ll explore several styles of Funk Carioca, the high-energy music and dance genre that was born out of Rio de Janeiro and has since gone global with its infectious moves and sounds.

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro’s Zona Norte, Roberto is a dancer, choreographer and researcher of Funk Carioca, Brazilian music and dance genre. He has taken his work across the world, sharing the dances born and shaped within Rio’s funk culture.

This is an open-level masterclass designed for everyone. Bora dançar!

It's Sustainable Sunday! The Vale and Global Grooves takes its commitment to carbon reduction and addressing the climate crisis very seriously, and these special screenings of the People's Emergency Briefing are the latest of our efforts to support our community in striving for a cleaner and greener future, helping people discover what positive action they can take and to connect people to the wider conversation.

Thanks to everyone that came, there were some really great discussions had, we had 3 screenings (1 in-house for our team) and two public sold-out screenings.
