Last month, GCC Co-Founder @yoveladebesay, had the opportunity to speak as a panelist at the @nationalafsa Conference at @johnshopkinssais, where she shared the vision behind the Global Climate Cooperative. At GCC, we believe some of the most innovative climate solutions already exist within communities across Africa and the Global South. The challenge is often not a lack of ideas, but a lack of connection, visibility, and support. That is why GCC was built around two core pillars:🌍 A Project Marketplace that connects diaspora communities, professionals, researchers, and supporters with localized, community-led climate initiatives already creating impact on the ground.📚 An Educational Platform that explores the intersection of climate, development, economics, innovation, and community-led transformation through accessible conversations and thought pieces. As climate challenges become increasingly global, solutions must be collaborative, locally informed, and community driven.Thank you to the National African Students Association and Johns Hopkins University for creating space for these important conversations.#Policy #Climate #Startup #Africa by @globalclimateco

As Eritrea marks 35 years of independence, conversations around sovereignty, diaspora engagement, and African-led development are re-emerging across the continent. This post also marks the beginning of GCC’s Thought Piece Series, where we will explore evolving conversations shaping development, climate, economics, and community-centered transformation across Africa and the Global South. In this first reflection, we explore:• self-reliance and development• diaspora engagement beyond remittances• sovereignty and resilience• African-led development models in a shifting global orderThis piece is not intended as political endorsement or activism. Rather, it is an invitation to engage critically and thoughtfully with larger development questions shaping the continent today. At GCC, we believe some of the most important conversations of the next decade will come from examining localized, historically underexplored, and community-centered approaches with nuance and intellectual curiosity.Swipe through for reflections on development, diaspora, and the future of African-led growth.#Africa #Diaspora #GCC by @globalclimateco

reflections on this conversation from the National African Students Association Conference at @johnshopkinssais.grateful to have been invited to speak on diaspora, policy, governance, and the growing role young africans and diaspora communities play in shaping global development.some of my favorite points centered on identity, responsibility, economic development, and what it means to move from representation into real influence and institution building. my contributions are deeply rooted in my pride for Eritrea, and how that continues to push me toward strengthening Eritrean engagement in global development spaces.i also had the opportunity to share more about the work we are building through the @globalclimateco, and our vision for diaspora-driven, community-centered approaches to climate and development.always an honor to contribute to spaces pushing these conversations forward, especially alongside students and young leaders deeply invested in africa’s future. 🌍#africa #policy #diaspora #international by @globalclimateco

UN ECOSOC Youth Forum 🌐my third @unitednations ECOSOC Youth Forum, and every year it reminds me how powerful intentional spaces can be. this time, i got to show up not only to learn, but also to introduce the work we are building through the @globalclimateco, connect with people working across climate and Africa, and be reminded that collaboration can open doors that ideas alone cannot. the real work is in the follow up, the relationships, and what we choose to build together after the room. access matters, but what we do with connection matters even more.💫#unitednations #ecosoc #climate by @globalclimateco
