I wrote this piece in January after I lost someone very dear to me. For months, I could not bring myself to post it here because it feels like a nightmare. Grief has a way of making even the things you love feel unreachable. But this year has carried more death than I have heard in my entire existence combined, and somewhere in that weight, this piece started knocking. Loudly. So here it is, finally leaving my archive. If you have lost someone, I hope this finds you in whatever place you are in right now. And if grief has made you go quiet in the ways that matter most to you, I want you to know that the voice does not leave. It just learns to breathe differently. One day, it comes back.
