Help GEC Bring 500 Backpacks to Children in Mexico 🇲🇽🎒

GEC is launching our next Backpack Donation Drive, this time in Punta Colonet, Baja California, Mexico! Our goal is to provide 500+ backpacks filled with books, educational materials, and creative supplies to children in the community 📚🎒✏️

Punta Colonet is a close-knit community with limited access to local services, including postal service. Through this initiative, our team will work alongside local community leaders to bring these resources directly to the children who need them 💚

This campaign builds on GEC’s growing work throughout Latin America. During our recent mission to Colombia, we had the opportunity to provide educational resources to children in Ciudad Bolívar 🇨🇴💚
Now, we’re carrying that same spirit of community support into Mexico.

Our goal is simple!
Show up, build local connections, and put educational and creative resources directly into the hands of children.

As we’re nearing the end of Hispanic Heritage, we’re grateful for the opportunity to continue nurturing our connections and supporting Latin America 🇲🇽💚

Every contribution helps in our goal of 500+ backpacks filled with supplies! We are grateful for your support and helping these children learn and create!

Together, we can continue building connections and unlocking every child’s potential 🌎📚

Thank you for being part of the GEC community and supporting the work we do 💚

🇨🇴 Part 5 - Taking GEC’s Mission to Latin America 🌎💚

Over the years, GEC has had the opportunity to support communities around the world. And our recent work in Colombia reminded us just how meaningful it can be to build connections closer to home.

This year our team had the opportunity to work alongside community leaders and provide educational resources to 70 children in Ciudad Bolívar 📚💚

Meeting these children and our new friends who welcomed us into their community strengthened our desire to continue supporting communities throughout Latin America 🌟

That’s why our next Backpack Donation Drive is bringing our efforts to Punta Colonet, Mexico 🇲🇽🎒
A community without local postal service.

In the spirit of #HispanicHeritageMonth we want to continue the work we started! Being there for children, building local connections, and providing educational and creative resources directly to the kids who need them 💚

🇺🇸 Part 4 - GEC's local initiatives 🌎🌟

While much of GEC’s work takes us around the world, our mission has always included supporting communities right here at home 💚

In 2025, GEC had the opportunity to partner with the YMCA in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to provide educational supplies to refugee children participating in their summer programs ☀️

Together with our supporters, we were able to provide 165 backpacks, 1,000+ boxes of crayons, hundreds of books, a 3D printer, and a variety of educational and art supplies 🎒📚🖍️
—
Now, as we prepare for our next Backpack Donation Drive in Punta Colonet, Mexico, we’re excited to continue that same spirit of giving and bring even more resources to children 🇲🇽🎒

Our goal is simple!
Put educational and creative resources into the hands of children, wherever they are, and help unlock their potential 🌎📚

If you’d like to be part of this next chapter, consider supporting our Mexico donation drive through the link in our bio! 💚

🇮🇶 Part 3 of GEC’s reflection on our charitable beginnings 🌎💚

One of the things we’ve learned through our work around the world is that supporting children in tight-knit communities can also mean supporting the friendly faces and local businesses that call it home!

During our first year in Iraq, GEC had the opportunity to connect with local community leaders and businesses to help source educational supplies for children at Darashakran Refugee Camp. By working with local stores and partners, we were able to keep our donations within the community while providing resources directly to the children who needed them 🇮🇶📚

This approach continues to shape the way we think about international giving today 💚

As we prepare for our next Backpack Donation Drive in Punta Colonet, Mexico, we’re excited to build new connections within the community and reach hundreds of children who call this town home 🇲🇽🎒

Our goal is simple! Bring educational and creative resources directly to children while supporting the communities around them 💚

🇹🇷 Part 2 of GEC’s reflection on our charitable beginnings 🎒💚

From the very beginning, GEC has believed in putting educational and creative supplies directly into the hands of children who need them. That’s still at the heart of what we do today!

We’re also proud to have maintained Candid’s Platinum Seal of Transparency for three consecutive years! We’re grateful to have our work recognized for the transparency and accountability we strive for in everything we do 💚
—
Now, as we head into the final months of 2026, we’re carrying that mission forward with our next Backpack Donation Drive in Baja California, Mexico! 🇲🇽🎒

This campaign will support a community without local postal service, helping us bring educational and creative resources directly to the children in that community 📚✏️

If this is a mission you’d like to be part of, consider making a donation through our website. Your support helps us continue bringing these resources directly to the communities we serve 💚

Together, we can keep building connections and unlocking every child’s potential! 🌎📚

🇺🇦 Reflecting on where GEC’s journey began 📚💚

In GEC’s first year, we launched our very first international project in Ukraine, supporting children directly impacted by the war. With the support of local community leaders, our team had the opportunity to meet with children and distribute essential educational materials, including backpacks filled with educational and creative supplies 🎒📚✏️

Empowering children around the world remains at the heart of GEC’s mission today 🌎
—
Now, we’re carrying that mission forward with our next Backpack Donation Drive! This time we are focusing our efforts on a community in Mexico 🇲🇽

Join us as we continue building connections, providing educational resources, and helping unlock every child’s potential 💚

The first and last images are from Lalish, one of the holiest sites for the Yazidi people. During GEC’s visit in 2024, families from across the region gathered in Lalish to honor their faith and religious traditions 💚

Both of our founders are deeply honored to have been welcomed into the community and to learn more about Yazidi culture. With the help of a new friend and interpreter, Carter and Albert had the opportunity to speak with members of the community, share stories, and even enjoy tea together ☕️

If you’re considering supporting a charitable organization during the second half of this year, GEC would be honored to have your support as we enter on our third consecutive year supporting communities in Iraq 🇮🇶📚
