✈️ Travellers flying to, from, or within the UAE may face limited flight delays as changing seasonal weather brings reduced visibility to some parts of the country, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has warned.

The authority said weather conditions and poor horizontal visibility could affect some flight operations. Any delays will depend on the prevailing weather and operational safety requirements.

Airlines and airport operators are taking the necessary measures in line with established aviation safety procedures.

Passengers are advised to check with their airlines and airports for the latest flight updates before travelling.

Could future treatments do more than simply relieve arthritis pain? 🔬

A researcher in Dubai is exploring whether changes in gene activity could help slow, stop or potentially reverse the joint damage caused by osteoarthritis, a condition that affects millions of people worldwide.

Dr Nerissa Naidoo, Associate Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, is studying reversible epigenetic changes in cartilage cells from patients with knee and hip osteoarthritis. Her team is testing pharmaceutical and nutraceutical approaches that aim to address the underlying processes responsible for cartilage damage.

The research is still underway, but it could open new possibilities for future treatments focused on protecting joint health rather than just relieving symptoms. Further studies are needed to determine whether these approaches can safely and effectively change the course of the disease. taken in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by @globaltimesupdate

🧠 Your mental health is personal—but can your employer in the UAE ask about it?

Under UAE law, employees’ mental health information is generally private. Employers do not automatically have the right to access details of psychiatric diagnoses, therapy sessions, medications or medical histories.

However, some situations may require medical documentation, including sick leave and fitness assessments for certain jobs. Having company-provided health insurance also does not automatically give your employer access to your personal medical records.

🔎 The key is understanding your privacy rights, knowing when disclosure may be necessary, and checking how your health insurance provider handles confidential information.

Protect your privacy, understand your rights, and never let concerns about confidentiality stop you from seeking the mental health support you need. taken in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by @globaltimesupdate

Australia has raised its travel warning for Saudi Arabia to “Do Not Travel” amid a volatile security situation and ongoing airport disruptions. King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has been specifically flagged, while other Saudi airports are also facing flight cancellations, delays and airspace closures.

Australian authorities are urging travellers to reconfirm their flights before heading to any airport. Where it is safe to do so, travellers are advised to consider alternative transport, including private cars, trains and buses, to reach aviation hubs in the UAE and Qatar.

Travellers should monitor airline updates, follow local authorities’ instructions and check official travel advisories regularly, as further disruptions could occur with little or no notice.
