Career development and skills training for South African youth job seekers.

Barriers to entry, limited funding and scarce resources keep too many young people from the opportunities that exist. Even the most affordable short courses are out of reach for many.

Our course bridges that gap with skills training in fields within the job market, workplace preparation and recruiter relationships.

Support this by sharing this post or leaving a comment below. 👇

We’re proud to celebrate another 10 students who have graduated from the SCA Coffee Skills Program: Barista Skills (Foundation)☕🎓

The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical training, giving graduates industry-recognised skills they can take into the workplace or build on as they grow their careers.

A big thank you to @stevobrewscoffee , our partner in this work, for guiding these students through the course with such skill and dedication. Partnerships like this are what make these opportunities possible for young people in our community.

Congratulations to every graduate. We can’t wait to see where your skills take you! 👏

52 000 Meals delivered this week. 📦🚛

These meals went to Reagile in North West and as far as the Raey school in the slums of Addis Ababa. From a township in the North West to a school in Addis Ababa, the need looks the same. And it’s not just a local picture. It’s a continental one.

56% of the world’s food-insecure people will live in Africa by 2030, if current trends continue.

There is a shift worth mentioning though: the latest UN report shows the first signs of improvement since 2015. The gap is still huge, and closing it takes action on food systems and nutrition.

This weekend I got to see, once again, how the simplest things end up meaning the most.

Kneeling down so a kid can look you in the eye instead of up at you. A hug that says “I see you” without a single word. Sitting on the floor instead of standing over them. None of it is elaborate. None of it took planning or resources or a big moment. It’s just presence.

And that’s the part I keep relearning — this isn’t about grand gestures. It’s about the small, quiet ways we choose to treat people like they matter. That’s what actually reaches a kid’s heart. That’s what makes them feel valued.

Grateful for another Saturday of just showing up and getting low enough to really see them.

KhulaKitchen August recap, part 2 🧡

This month we also sat down with Dineo, a social worker in the community who’s seen firsthand what it takes to actually make a difference for these kids and families. She shared why collaboration isn’t just a nice-to-have in this work — it’s the very foundation. No single organisation, volunteer, or donation gets a community where it needs to be alone. It takes all of us pulling in the same direction, toward the same goal.

It’s easy to think of impact as something one group “does” for another. Dineo reminded us it’s much more of a shared effort — schools, social workers, volunteers, and partners like KhulaNutrition all playing their part.

We are grateful for people like Dineo who do this work every day, and for the reminder that we’re stronger together.

KhulaKitchen August recap 🧡

Another incredible Saturday at Love Christian Pre-School — serving up nutritious food, playing games, and just connecting with the kids who make this all worth it.

This month we also got to sit down with one of our most consistent, joy-filled volunteers, Danny.

Her story of why she keeps showing up is one we hear in different forms every month: that there’s something life-changing about giving without expecting anything back. It’s a reminder we need often — that the people pouring into these kids are just as nourished by the experience as the kids are by the food.

Grateful for Saturdays like this. Grateful for volunteers like Danny. More to come.

20 000 meals delivered to Bergville 🙌 Family homes, outpatient programs, and kids in surrounding communities — all a little more nourished today. Could not have done this without our incredible partners on the ground.

This past weekend, that truck carried 20 000 Genesis high protein meals down to the Bergville area in KwaZulu-Natal — meals that are now finding their way into family homes, outpatient programs, and the hands of children across surrounding communities.

None of this happens in isolation. We can pack the buckets and get them on the road, but reaching Bergville — really reaching it, in a way that means something once we’re gone — takes people on the ground who already know the community, already carry the relationships, and already show up to help long after the delivery truck has left. This trip was only possible because of partners in the area who share that same conviction: that no one should have to struggle to have daily nourishment.

One of those partners is a woman who never says no. Every time we arrive, she’s already there, ready to help coordinate, open doors, and make sure the meals reach exactly who they need to. Her heart for this community is the kind that can’t be taught — and honestly, people like her are the real reason this work gets done.

To everyone who helped coordinate drop-off points, opened their doors, and made sure these meals reached the people who needed them most — thank you. This is what it looks like when good intentions meet good logistics and even better people.

20 000 meals is a number. But behind it are outpatients regaining strength and kids walking through their school doors with something in their stomachs.

More of this to come.
