📍Ever heard of a monastery hidden deep in Armenia’s forests that once shaped an entire nation’s laws?

Most travelers come to Armenia for the mountains and ancient churches. I came across a place that tells a much bigger story.

Welcome to Goshavank Monastery — a stunning 12th-13th century monastery surrounded by the green forests of Tavush. At first glance, it looks like another beautiful medieval monastery. But the history behind it is what makes this place unforgettable.

Standing at the entrance is the bronze statue of Mkhitar Gosh, one of Armenia's greatest scholars. More than 800 years ago, he wrote the first Armenian law code, helping shape the country's legal and cultural identity.

As I walked through the ancient stone pathways, I couldn't stop thinking about how many generations had stood in the same place. The carvings, the architecture, the peaceful atmosphere—everything feels frozen in time.

What surprised me most was the silence. No crowds. No noise. Just history, nature, and a reminder that some of the world's most incredible places are still hidden from the tourist spotlight.

🚨 **I thought I was exploring a cave… until the cave started challenging ME! 😂🦇**

The adventure started with rough mountain roads, a 4x4 ride and a 5 km hike through the green Armenian landscape. 🌿🏔️

Then came the incredible **cable bridge above the gorge** 🌉 and a peaceful ancient church hidden among the rocks. ⛪

But the real adventure was underground…

I explored **Areni-1 Cave**, home to a winery dating back around **6,000 years**, along with **Mozrov, Magellan and Khndzoresk**. 🦇

Some passages were SO narrow that turning around was almost impossible. And honestly… my body was not designed for that! 😂

⚠️ **If you’re new to cave exploring, don’t underestimate it.** Some sections are difficult and require proper experience, preparation and guidance.

And then came **Geghard Monastery**, beautifully carved into the cliffs. 🏔️⛪

Ancient caves, hidden churches, green mountains, a cable bridge and thousands of years of history…

🇦🇲 **Armenia didn't feel like a trip. It felt like an adventure book.** 🗺️✨

There are places that make you smile... and then there are places that make you feel like a curious child again.

One winding road led me to the mountains of Tatev, where the wind whispered old stories and the valleys stretched farther than my eyes could follow.

Then came the cable car—gliding silently above deep gorges, floating between mountains as if the earth had disappeared beneath my feet. Knowing I was riding the world's longest non-stop reversible aerial tramway made the journey even more unforgettable.

Sometimes, the best adventures don't happen at the destination. They happen somewhere between the sky and the mountains, where all you can do is look around and think...

"What a wonderful world this is."

Midnight movie nights used to be one of our favourite hobbies back in university. Those late-night shows, the laughs, and the memories with my gang were something special. Life is much busier now, and we're all far apart, but tonight brought me right back to those old days.
