🗓 I’m not quite sure how to catch up on the last chaotic season of life but here are a slew of events I’m grateful for ✨♥️🤓🙏🏻

1) @jamesmcsharrystudio had his first out of state show @gasparillaarts and knocked it OUTAH THE PARK 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻. Come see his new work and our collaborations at @spoonbillgallery April 3rd from 6-8pm 🫶🏻

2) My work was on @bravosoutherncharm 👀 because @meyervoglgallery is the best team and @charleygail is my gallerist 🤯

3-5) My amazing mother-in-law @kmcsharry7420 supported me through three back-to-back shows in Florida (Thank you so much Kelly!) which kicked off with an award from @coconutgroveartsfestival and ended with a new transmission for Ruby 🙄 🚐 💨 We got to go see my hero @junkanekostudio artwork in @tampamuseumofart and I had tears rolling down my face- I can’t even describe how good it felt to be in the presence of his sculptures ❤️ 🧠

📝 Life is looking different these days.

My most recent 18”x 72” still life stacks have a lot of good chaos energy as I have gotten to reflect on all the changes that have happened of late. James joined me full time in my business in January and it’s been a whirlwind of learning. My aunt lives by the expression “always learning” and I have to say, this motto is helping me roll with the work punches.

Amidst nine festival shows and two gallery shows we’ve participated in this year, I had the huge pleasure of hosting James’ sister Audra and her wedding party in my studio at @oye_studios . The studio was filled with singing, laughter, and flowers for days. The wedding was absolutely stunning and I got to watch my friend @jonbolton.art capture the event through his beautiful drawings.

All the wedding flowers inspired a new series of miniature round floral paintings that I released at @artisphere for Mother’s Day. After pulling some late studio nights with friends, we had a joyful weekend working, followed it with a lake dip with family and friends before jumping into… parenthood? We adopted a puppy (Krasner), moved into our house thanks to our *super generous and buff* community, and even managed to swing up to Charlotte to visit family and see @davematthewsband .

Here we are half way through a new week, headed to Mississippi in a couple of days, waking up for night-time, four-legged strolls and life is just hitting differently. Today I’m knee-deep in new compositions for @oldtownartfair where I’ll be showing next and mostly preparing for all these life changes to hit the paintings. Art is a meandering path for me but I’m excited to imagine where all this good chaos will take my work.

After four weekends of art exhibitions I’m overjoyed to wake up in my own bed and work out with my neighborhood gals and just be. Then again, this season has been so joyful and full of learning that I wouldn’t skip a single moment ✨

In the fast pace I haven’t had time to doubt my work, overthink a process, or over plan an outcome. It’s been so eye-opening to be in a life circumstance where trusting my creative intuition and joyfully making without self criticism during the process is the only way forward.

One special series that has come out of this time is a series of three legged chairs referencing a metaphor for life that my friend Rey gave me. Life is like a three legged stool with the essential supports of food in your belly, clothes on your back, and a roof over your head. These supports change and grow over time but the seat at the table is provided by these legs.

The same week I made this series, I had the opportunity to honor a friend and collector Irv Welling, whose work with the South Carolina Governors School for the Arts and Humanities provided me with the finances my family needed to send me to the school as a fledgling 16 year old artist.

We celebrated the Spring Show at Oye that weekend and once again I was reminded of the support from my mentors, my family, and my community that continue to make the work possible.

James and I celebrated our anniversary the weekend of our first collaborative show together and shared the work at Spoonbill Gallery. The full circle being working with for the gallery owners years ago created the beautiful relationship we have now.

Heading to Atlanta the following weekend, James and I discovered the beautiful friendship of Yvonne and Stefan (y’all go follow their work!) and couldn’t have had a better pollen-filled weekend in ATL 😝

The final stretch to Chattanooga last weekend was met with a fantastic reception of the work. My cup is overflowing with gratitude to the community we’ve found there and our friends that helped us make connections.

Finishing up this note to y’all in the parking lot at our beautiful Oye I feel so grounded in taking the next steps in the studio today.
