When to DOUBLE-SHAMPOO:

✅Yes if:
🎀 You don’t wash daily
🎀 Your hair tends to run oily
🎀 You use products often

❌ No if:
🎀 Your hair or scalp is usually dry
🎀 You wash daily

Double-shampooing is a great way to break down multiple layers of oil and product. 🧴

💆🏻‍♀️Spend a minute or two massaging your scalp to really get the shampoo doing its job, rather than quickly rinsing it out. The massage is also great for blood-flow and circulation, giving you healthier hair. 🫧

How to protect that beautiful hair from damage in the summer ☀️👙⛱️

💧Oftentimes pools have a shower nearby, look for that so you can wet your hair first

🧴AND/OR carry around an oil or leave-in conditioner that works with your hair porosity to lather your hair with before getting in (make sure to keep the oil or conditioner in multiple sealed bags incase it leaks 🫠) by @glow.with.mc

Split ends can continue up the hair shaft and cause damage to the whole strand of hair rather than just staying at the bottom. 😪

Your hair gets way more tangled and knotted when it’s not trimmed because the split ends snag more easily on each other. 💇🏻‍♀️

Plus, if you get it trimmed more frequently you can keep your style layered and angled the way you like it (or try something new). 💝

SOME MAJOR BENEFITS OF EACH:

🥑 Avocados 🥑 The nutrients in avocados can reduce aging effects. Antioxidants in avocados, such as lutein, fight free radical formation, keeping the skin tight and moisturized from within. Minerals, vitamins, and proteins in avocados also boost hair growth!

🍣 Fatty fish 🍣 Foods with Omega-3 fatty acids, such as fatty fish like salmon, help support your skin’s structure which can reduce the appearance of fine lines. A 2015 study found that supplements containing Omega-3 and Omega-6 led to greater hair density and diameter after only 6 months!

🍳 Eggs 🍳 Biotin and Vitamin B 12 found in eggs are nutrients which nourish the hair, skin, and nails. Biotin enhances skin’s texture and improves hair growth. Vitamins D and B5 found in eggs have shown to facilitate regeneration of new skin cells!

🍠 Sweet potatoes 🍠 Vitamin C helps collagen synthesis that maintain the structural protein of the skin. Sweet potatoes help your body convert beta-carotene into Vitamin A which is great at fighting acne and curbing the onset of wrinkles.

❗️Walnuts ❗️Many studies show that continuous intake of walnuts makes the skin clear. Walnuts are also a great source of copper, and copper deficiency is a major cause of premature graying hair.

🍫 Dark chocolate 🍫 Dark chocolate contains nutrients such as copper, iron, and zinc, which enhance cell growth and facilitate better transfer of nutrients to the cells, as well as increasing blood flow to the skin & scalp.

I didn’t list every single nutrient in each, but I listed a lot that help with healthy hair and skin! I love all the foods on this list, I may make a part 2 with more options! 🥑🥚 Enjoy! 🍽️

ALL EXPLAINED HERE 🩷 You could be mechanically damaging your hair without realizing it! If you are, you’re not alone, I also used to before I knew. 🥸

We hear about heat and chemical damage, but we don’t often hear about mechanical damage to our hair.

Mechanical damage happens when there is wear and tear, too much tension, or excessive friction to the hair.

Here some of the most common causes of mechanical damage to hair AND what to do instead:

🪮 Brushing vigorously - Brush gently and slower instead, and start from the ends working out any knots. Brushing hard and fast will cause breakage and damage.

😴 Sleeping on wet hair - I used to be guilty of this. Wash your hair earlier in the day and give it time to dry before you go to bed. Added friction from sleeping on a pillow with wet hair, moving around at night can pull hair farther than its elasticity allows. Plus, bacteria & fungi thrive in warm, moist environments 🙄 👎.

🛌 Using a regular pillowcase - Some people move a lot when they sleep, and the texture of the smooth satin (or silk if you’re extra) doesn’t cause friction to your hair while you sleep. Plus it’s better for your skin, too (less wrinkles).

🎀 Wearing tight hairstyles too often - If you frequently wear a tight hairstyle you’re more likely to experience hair loss 🙁. High ponytails were my favorite but I only do them sometimes now. Instead wear a looser style or your hair down more often.

🧖‍♀️ Using a regular bath towel to try your hair - Bath towel’s small loops can pull at your wet hair and cause breakage. I use a cotton t-shirt because of the smoothness.

Let’s keep our hair strong & healthy together 🩷

If you’re not naturally prone to an oily scalp, and you feel like you’ve tried almost everything, dirty brushes & combs could be what’s causing you problems!

Just like you wash your hair to get excess oils, buildup, and debris off, your brushes need that same love! If you don’t wash your brushes & combs for a long time, they are gathering all this and reintroducing it onto your scalp and hair each time you brush.

Here’s how I wash my brushes & combs:

🧼 Fill a cup or bowl with warm water
🧼 Add 2 tablespoons of white cleaning vinegar or apple cider vinegar
🧼 Add a good squeeze of dish soap or 1 teaspoon of baking soda
🧼 Mix it around with the brush or comb
🧼 Let it sit for 20-30 mins (I did 30)
🧼 Scrub it with an old toothbrush used for cleaning & rinse

My comb came out looking brand new. It’s a simple process and it’s so satisfying. If you have a bowl or a bigger container you can do multiple at once (or just use another cup lol). Try it & let me know how it goes 🩵
