I genuinely don’t understand why some clients think remote support from Africa should be FREE for a “period of time,” while they’d never make the same demand of VAs elsewhere.

Are we not doing the same work?

A VA in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, or elsewhere in Africa is still a skilled professional. Their time has value. Their expertise has value. Their work deserves to be paid for.

And no, this isn’t about asking clients to pay blindly. Evaluate the skills. Evaluate the experience. Evaluate the work.

But don’t automatically attach a lower value to someone simply because they’re based in Africa.

Fair pay should be based on the value of the work: not race, geography, or assumptions about what someone “should” accept.
