Not good!
The pattern is great, love the opportunities for creative uses of fabric & the design. However, it is not for me without some serious adaptation.
Size Down by at least 2 sizes
Reduce the amount of fabric in the side panels
Reduce the wideness of the neck.
Make an upper rounded back alteration.

This version is a wearable toile (just not wearable for me!). Lovely gingham linen from Textile Express in Oswestry although it does fray a lot! Destined for the local charity shop from where I hope it will find a happy home.
Now,onto making some more #Robbie trousers & trying to hack them to look like a pair of #TessutiPatterns Demis.

DAY 30: #memademay2025
This is my third attempt at posting today. My instagram skills are so basic that I not only don’t know what went wrong but have no idea how to upload more than one photo or even a video. I also don’t know how to respond to the very kind comments on my posts other than to click on the little hearts.
Anyway, today I wore my #plantain t-shirt by #deeranddoe (now #closetcore). After my first attempt with 5his pattern I made a forward shoulder adjustment & slightly enlarged the bodice. Consequently it is a bit baggy! The fabric is 100% cotton knit from #guthrieandghani. The linen trousers are so old and have been altered so much to accommodate my elderly girth that I have no idea where they came from.
Almost at the end of May!

#memademay Day 28:
Old & comfy Boden chinos worn with a hacked #tillyandthebuttons #coco made from #minervafabrics 100% cotton knit. I like the longer length & lengthened the sleeves to cover my hands. It was one of my first attempts at a forward shoulder adjustment. The neckline was still a bit baggy so I created a little double pleat in the front which worked out well.
Unfortunately, it is a bit tight as I have put on a lot of weight!

#memademay Day 25: Cheating a bit here! I have worn these trousers (#Vogue1367RebeccaTaylor) 3 times in the past week but only photographed them today. Linen from #shaukat.
The T-shirt is a WIP #grainline #hemlock. I have made the old ‘one size fits all’ version twice & have been very happy with the results but wanted to try the new version. This is size 8 made with a very fine, floppy & challenging to sew 100% cotton knit. As a toile I am very happy with it: the sleeves are over my wrist, the shortened length sits well below my waist & there is p,entry of ease across the bust. I made upper rounded back & forward shoulder adjustments which seem to be a good fit. The hems are not done yet & I must remember to attach a label!
This is a very easy sew but it has taken me weeks! The biggest obstacle was cutting out; the fabric is so floppy & fine that it moved around resisting all my efforts to hold it still with pattern weights & pins. Then adjustments to even out potentially lopsided seams, create a neck facing etc etc.

well, so much for daily/regular posts!
Life, hospital appointments & a lovely few days in Liverpool put paid to those daily commitments.
Today I wore old stuff that has stood the test of time:

What I notice most about these photos is a tendency to go for dark blue occasionally enlivened by lighter blues & patterns featuring even more blue! Need to branch out but I am willing to bet that my stash of fabric also features blue very strongly.
Am I alone in finding that one colour tends to dominate one’s sewing choices?

Me Made May 8:
Missed a few days - memades were worn but life got in the way of photos & posts!
Here I am wearing Deer & Doe’s Plantain, a free T-shirt pattern made with cotton jersey from the wonderful Ray Stitch in Islington. I hadn’t realised how totally un stretchy this jersey was until it was too late! Luckily, there was enough material left for a long strip from hemline to wrist on each side. Some hasty unpicking & insertion of extra fabric was successful & this t-shirt has been worn to the level of loved shabbiness you can see here.

#Memademay2025: Day 3:
First real walk since coming out of hospital, probably about 3 miles in Richmond Park. Today it was quite hot so a lighter fabric for the top ( Burda 7198 2014) was welcome! The dungarees are Heydays by #TeamWaves&Wild in a lovely blue/green linen from #Raystitch & the top is #LibertyTanaLawn with an interesting computer generated print.

Oldies are the besties!
#memademay2025 Day 2:
A happy discovery last summer when I was scrabbling through the boxes of fabric, finds & disasters in the spare room. What happened to all the other shirts I made in the mid eighties? I used to buy cotton poplin from a little Liberty shop in Kings Road & make shirts & tops but this is the only one I can find now. Why, oh why did I give those lovely things away? Well, anyway, this one was cut across the grain because I didn’t like the idea of the horizontal stripes. Still looks quite big.

So long since I posted on Instagram that I have forgotten how! Still recovering from pneumonia had also forgotten about MeMadeMay25 So I am rushing to catch up with the first 3 days.
Self drafted pyjama trousers made from #Liberty tana lawn. The dressing gown is #Dhurata Davies’ #Overlap pattern made with mini waffle fabric from #Higgs & Higgs bought at Alexandra Palace festival last autumn. Much worn, it is beginning to look tired!

MeMadeMay 2024 Day 25:
Getting a bit monotonous now!
The same trouser pattern from Rebecca Taylor for Vogue in linen from Shaukat, originally made as part of a (10 years ago!) rather chic wedding guest outfit, but very shabby now.
The heavy denim shirt is very special to me. I didn't make it but it was given to me by my beloved step-mother in law who was only a few years older than me. She died too young & I really miss her which is why the shirt is such a happy garment for me. Doe anyone else have clothing they love because of who gave it to them?

MeMadeMay day 25:
My second attempt at the Deer and Doe Nenuphar in 'Atlantic' linen from Ray Stitch. This time I scoured the internet for guidance to adjust the pattern for my rounded upper back & forward shoulders. Sorry to say that I don't have a record of the sites I found to help make the adjustments except to say that the more I searched & the more I found the more help they all were! I also cut the longer length for the body & kept my adjustment for longer sleeves. If I make this again I will narrow the sleeves to make them a bit neater. I also added the pockets & bound all the seams with me-made bias binding made from Liberty offcuts. The trousers are the Rebecca Taylor design for Vogue again plus my trusty Named Patterns Nummi bag.

MMMday 24:
Still tryng to get to grips with up/down-loading photos to Instagram so don't quite understand what has happened here!
Meeting friends for coffee so wore my first attempt at the Deer&Doe Nenuphar (with no alterations other than lengthening the sleeves) made with 100% cotton jersey from the much missed Village Haberdashery in West Hampstead. Paired with another pair of much worn Rebecca Taylor designed trousers for Vogue patterns made in MM 'Sweep's Scrim' from RayStitch in Islington. Just seen that they should have been ironed more carefully!
