Dear friends from Vienna and the whole world, it isn’t without a bit of a heartbreak that we want to inform you that your favorite skate event will not happen in 2026. As you can imagine, organizing the Gnarathon takes quite some energy out of us and we felt like we needed to skip one year in order to fully recharge our batteries. If we’re gonna do it again it needs to be at least as good as it has been these last three years, and that means we’re gonna need a bit more time to organize the next edition. San Vicente de Paul ⛰️Through your support we could gather over 1000€ to help build a miniramp for @via_skateboaring in the north of Peru. Locals, cjf_peru and a small delegation of the Gnarateam got their hands dirty to get a new spot for the children of San Vicente de Paul – apart from their (pretty rough) downhill. Kids are stoked and so are we!Big shoutout to all who donated 🙌For more info make sure to follow ➡️ @via_skateboarding and ➡️ @cjf_peru. There’s more projects to come and the fundraising campaign for 2 more miniramps is still running!📷 @tamarero and the crew by @gnarathon_vienna

While skateboarding is of course front and center during an event like @gnarathon_vienna , there’s also lots of in between moments and characters you wouldn’t want to miss. So for this one we occasionally panned away from the action to learn about things like @clubmaiteee ‘s new dance moves, @jake_yanko ‘s possible new career path as forklift operator or simply taking a lap with “The Beer Bong People”. Profe Jhikson 👷🏼‍♂️Careful: Longer than the average Insta-read!This is @jhikson.sb, 25 years young from Peru and probably the humblest guy you’ll ever meet. And before asking you to support him we want to make sure you know his story.We first met Jhikson when he was a 17-year-old total skaterat ripping his local skatepark in Trujillo, Peru. He was stoked to work with @concretejunglefoundation and did skate classes at a schoolyard. He was one of the local core members who should later start @cjf_peru to keep projects rolling.You could always count on Jhikson. Even when he was delivering gas cylinders in the midst of the pandemic, he joined online meetings yelling something we couldn’t understand anyways. (Shoutout to Peruvian mobile network!) He was always down, especially when it came to building stuff. As soon as we started to plan a new park at a youth centre, Jhikson was on his computer to craft his very first designs. And with the guidance of the CJF construction masterminds - @lizzjake, @cletent_maquet and @hrrygrrrd – he made his first steps as skatepark builder.Another park in Peru, another one in Cambodia, another one in Morocco… and there he is: „Skatepark-Professor” Jhikson - short: profe - ruling the construction site from the ground works to the finishing touches. Today he’s building parks in Europe and wherever hard working builders are needed.But Jhikson doesn’t stop there. He never cut ties with his Peruvian friends, family and community. So instead of resting on his well-deserved European savings (more than legit!), he decided to build 5 miniramps in 5 different cities in Peru to plant little seeds of skateboarding. 2 already built, 3 more to go!And this what we are here for.
