A great testimony from one of our campers about 1984 camp!🙏🏾

#neverforget1984 #sikh #gngsmethwick #sikhicamp by @gngsmethwick

Today marks the day Bhai Beant Singh Ji, Bhai Satwant Singh Ji and Bhai Kehar Singh Ji assassinated the then prime minister of India Indira Ghandi for ordering the armed assault on the Sikhs holiest shrine Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar.

On 1st June 1984 Indira Ghandi ordered the Indian army to storm the sacred shrine in which thousands of innocent Sikhs were killed who had come to Amritsar to commemorate the martyrdom day of the founder of the holy shrine.

On 31st October 1984 Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh and Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh Ji shot dead Indira Ghandi and avenged the attack on the shrine.

Bhai Beant Singh Ji was shot and martyred on the spot by Indira’s other bodyguards while Bhai Satwant Singh Ji and Bhai Kehar Singh Ji were arrested tried and hung.

In 1986 they were declared martyrs of Khalistan by Sri Akal Takhat Sahib.
