Finally ripped off the bandaid and fished the @mwladyred tournament as a boat of women only with @minischulte this last weekend. Proud to be one of three women only boats in a field of 66!

We are just two women that became friends over the odd concept of trying to trick fish to eat the strange hook with feathers on it that we spent so much time tying earlier that day.

One day we will win this tournament. This year, we will put a redfish on the board 9 minutes before tournament end, and take home a sick raffle prize that I still can’t believe I won!

When this tournament began, it was 25 boats and one day only. 65 boats this year!!! Wow. It’s amazing to watch our sport grow amongst women. How lucky are we!

Bonus pic on the first fish I threw to the day after the tournament.. that’s tournament fishing yall!! by @gnmorsilli

Last night was the last 8pm sunset in Charleston until 2027… we had to get out on the water after work to enjoy it. Redfish were abundant but what really stole the show was the bounty of nature enjoying the peaceful, still evening.

Nothing beats the mid-week corporate grind like getting out on the water after work and seeing redfish do what redfish do on a Tuesday. What an absolute privilege! taken in Charleston, South Carolina by @gnmorsilli

Trying my hand at a Cruiser Sardinia pattern, a new one to me! My girlfriend Libby fishes the Pacific Coast and East Cape of Baja and mentioned in passing that she would love a sardine pattern in black and purple so a quick google search of course led me to a @tridentfly video that walked me through step by step.

This was my first time using a rattle as well as using the Gunnar Brammer technique to tie it in. I did both a black and purple and a classic white/chartreuse on a 3/0 Umpqua hook. All of my materials I buy locally from Fin to Feather 🪶

I can’t wait to see what Libby pulls out of the sea with these!

Come tie a fly with me today!

Flies don’t have to be complicated. They don’t need a lot of materials. It can be so intimidating to start tying and fishing with your own flies - it shouldn’t be.

I tie this slider with either rabbit or craft fur, some Krystal flash, crazy legs, chenille and bead chain. That’s it!

Our water is mad muddy these days, lots of rain makes sight fishing challenging unless you can find fish in the grass or making a wake. They also have a bounty of bait to eat, from mullet to pogies to shrimp to blue crab, it’s everywhere.

I like this fly because it leaves the fish guessing, it lands lightly but in the grass will sink fast enough for the fish to find it, and shows up in our dark and muddy water.

High vibes and fishy fingers always ☮️

Blessed to have spent the last week rafting the Colorado River in Grand Canyon with my parents, my in laws and 26 new friends. I can’t express how much gratitude I have to be so lucky to have this opportunity for this experience!

I think this is the closest we will ever get to our past. The oldest rock layer in Grand Canyon is over 1 BILLION years old. Truly incomprehensible. taken in Grand Canyon by @gnmorsilli

Nate and I have bonded over the last three years as colleagues over many things (including our shared adoration for my husband) but one that that is a near constant conversation is our fishing stories. Where are we traveling to fish, who caught the biggest bass after work yesterday, what kind of fish we have caught on a fly rod. What fishing means for our souls.

Nate had never salt water fly fished until this past Tuesday. We took an opportunity on a work trip to NOLA to fish a day with @flybayoucharters and see if we could hook one up for Nate. Weather conditions didn’t look great but we were committed to a great time nonetheless.

After about an hour of coaching, Nate’s opportunity approached us. This bull red rolled her back out of the water and gave us a show, and by the grace of god Nate dropped a dime right in front of her face. He got a textbook smash, gills flared and bright copper.

What a privilege to deal my good friend the drug of a good redfish tug 🎣! by @gnmorsilli

My first love - I adopted Danny when I was 19. He loved me on the days I didn’t love myself. He ate my underwear and was horrible on walks because he had PTSD from dodging cars on a highway in Yuma (where he was rescued). He was a prancer and loved being groomed. He knew he was a handsome guy and loved to show it off. Always the entertainer, you could count on Danny for some killer dance moves if you had the right snack to entice him with (didn’t have to look far, he loved all human food!).

The light in his eyes has been dimming for some time. His little body just couldn’t stay strong for him. He gave us 16 years of unconditional love and joy, but today it was time to let him go.

He will have a busy first few weeks in heaven as we gave him a long list of people and doggie loves alike to go say hi to and share messages with. Jake, Karchie, Zeus, Mooch, Taffy, Tiny, Snowball, Penny, Stuffy, Earl. Our souls will meet again. by @gnmorsilli
