Yikes. This day 9 years ago was a game-changer for me. I was fresh out of college where I would binge read @sickamore’s “Thank God I’m Famous” blog religiously. When I was trying to figure out my next move, I had the courage to send him an email and long story short he took time to meet with me and gave me a laundry list of books to read. His energy, ambition and love of music was contagious. Fast forward to today and I’ve built a career off telling great stories about brands I believe in. I’ve worked with music labels, private companies, churches, entrepreneurs...you name it. Just your daily reminder that it all starts somewhere so...START 💫 #DreamBig #GoGetEm by @go_getter

Knicks in 5 energy, still 🧡💙

Just like my Knicks, I’m fighting for my life in my own proverbial San Antonio right now between working full time, grad school at USC, and balancing it all. The grind doesn’t show up cute every day.

But December? That’s my championship parade.

Fresh off vacation, but it’s time to lock back in ✨

Rest was needed, memories were made, and now it’s back to purpose. Grateful to be recognized with the Phi Alpha Scholarly Excellence Scholarship Award from @uscedu , but the work doesn’t stop here. One semester closer, one assignment closer, one step closer…

New semester. Same purpose. Bigger gratitude. ❤️

As classes start today, I’ve been reflecting on how meaningful it was to be recognized by the Houston Chapter of the NASW as MSW Student of the Year. To be acknowledged for the hard work, long nights, practicum hours, sacrifices, and commitment I’ve poured into this journey means more than I can put into words.

Balancing graduate school at USC, a full-time career, and life has stretched me in ways I never expected, but it has also reminded me that purpose will push you farther than comfort ever could.

Today, I start another semester grateful for how far I’ve come and focused on the finish line: December. 🎓 One step closer.

I’ve been sitting with this photo for a while.

Yesterday we lost Rev. Jesse Jackson, a man who carried the grief of an entire people on his back and still showed up. Still marched. Still preached. Still demanded that the voiceless be seen.

There’s something about seeing yourself clearly that only happens after grief has done its work on you.

This is the face of someone who lost, who mourned, who studied, and who finally wrote the book she needed to find when she was falling apart.

“The Mourning After Sunday” is for everyone who was told to be strong when they needed to fall apart. For every Black family that processed loss in the pew but never in a therapist’s office. For the clinicians who want to do better but don’t know what they’re missing.

Rev. Jackson spent his life fighting for the overlooked. This book is part of that same work.
