Born with HIV in 1984, Hydeia Broadbent was abandoned as an infant and diagnosed with AIDS by age five. Doctors feared she wouldn't survive childhood. 🥺

At just 11 years old, she appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, where she broke down in tears while discussing the pain of watching her friends die from AIDS. 😳

Despite everything, Hydeia became a powerful advocate for HIV awareness, inspiring millions with her courage and resilience. 💪

She unfortunatelly ended up passing away in February of 2024 at just 39 years old. ❤️😱

Andrew Huberman, a Stanford neuroscientist and host of the Huberman Lab podcast, explains how attaching internal dopamine-driven motivation to external rewards can change our behavior. 🧠

In one experiment, children who loved drawing began receiving golden stars for their artwork. ⭐

But when the rewards stopped, the children who expected them became less interested in drawing. ✍️

Why? Because something they once enjoyed for its own sake had become associated with external rewards. 😱

The same can happen when we become dependent on likes, compliments, money, and recognition. 🤨

The lesson?

Don't let external rewards become your only source of motivation. Learn to find satisfaction in the effort itself, even when nobody is watching.
