Okay… I finally made the travel page. ✈️🌎

I’m Cat, full-time working mom, chronic trip planner, and firm believer that you don’t need unlimited PTO or an unlimited budget to see some pretty incredible places.

I’ve spent years collecting way too many photos and videos from girls trips, family trips, cruises, weekend getaways, hikes, hidden gems and places I still can’t believe I got to see.

So instead of letting them live in my camera roll forever… I’m taking you with me. 🤎

Expect real itineraries, beautiful stays, adventures, what things actually cost, and everything I wish I knew before going.

Working girl to working girl… ✈️🌎

I’m a mom of two, work 12-hour night shifts in healthcare, and still make traveling a priority!

Here are 6 things that have helped me travel more while working full-time:

1. I plan my PTO strategically 📅
I look at my work schedule months in advance and request my days off early. Planning ahead helps me maximize my time off without using more PTO than necessary.

2. I book now and pay later 🏨
I love finding accommodations on Expedia or Airbnb that let me reserve now and pay closer to my trip. This helps me secure a place early while giving me time to budget for it.
I reserve experiences in advance 🎟️
I use Viator to research and book excursions ahead of time. When available, I choose reserve-now-pay-later options so I can plan my activities without paying for everything upfront.

3. I create detailed itineraries 📝
I organize my reservations, activities, prices, and payment dates in one place. I love knowing exactly what we’re doing and how much everything will cost before we even get there!

4. I spread out my travel expenses 💰
Instead of paying for everything at once, I plan ahead and budget for each expense leading up to the trip. No last-minute financial surprises!

5. I take advantage of shorter trips 🌴
Not every vacation needs to be a full week! Some of my favorite adventures have been quick 3-day getaways. You’d be surprised how much you can experience in just a few days!

Not a football girlie, but going to an NFL game was on my bucket list! 🏈🐬

So naturally, I finished a 12-hour night shift, took a 3-hour nap on the way to Miami, and headed straight to Hard Rock Stadium. 😂

Was the game as exciting as I expected? Not exactly. But I’m all about trying new things, making memories, and getting out of my usual routine.

Another experience checked off the list! ✔️

I just want a life full of days like this. 🌿🥾

Chasing waterfalls, exploring new trails, and soaking up every bit of the outdoors.

📍 Amicalola Falls State Park | Dawsonville, Georgia

A few fun facts about this beautiful place:

💦 At 729 feet, Amicalola Falls is the tallest cascading waterfall in the Southeast!

🌿 The name Amicalola comes from a Cherokee word meaning “tumbling waters.”

🥾 The park features a 2.1-mile loop trail with incredible waterfall views, plus plenty of stairs if you’re up for a challenge!

🏔️ It’s also a gateway to the Appalachian Trail, with an 8.5-mile approach trail leading to Springer Mountain.

Whether you’re into hiking or just want to escape into nature for a little while, this place deserves a spot on your Georgia bucket list.

Florida really has some hidden gems! 🌿🛶

If kayaking through crystal-clear water surrounded by lush greenery sounds like your kind of adventure, add King’s Landing to your bucket list!

Here’s what you need to know:

🛶 Kayak rental: $65 for a tandem kayak (2 people)

💻 Reservations: We booked ours online directly through King’s Landing.

🚣 Bring your own kayak or paddleboard: $10 launch fee

🌿 The experience: Paddle through beautiful, spring-fed waterways surrounded by Florida’s natural scenery.

💡 My tip: Go on a weekday if you can to potentially avoid the weekend crowds!

Steal our self-guided Juneau port day 🏔️🚗

Instead of booking an excursion, we rented a car through Explore Juneau (@explore_juneau) for about $120 total when we visited. They picked us up near the cruise port, drove us a few minutes to the rental location, gave us a map with suggested stops, and then we were free to explore on our own.

We headed north on Glacier Highway, drove toward the end of the road, and stopped along the way at Sunshine Cove, Eagle Beach, and the Shrine of St. Thérèse.

After that, we made our way to Mendenhall Glacier, walked the Nugget Falls Trail, and spent some time around Mendenhall Lake before heading back to the ship.

What I loved most was how easy the day was to do on our own. We could stop whenever we wanted, stay as long as we wanted, and most of the places we visited didn’t cost us anything extra.

If you have a Juneau cruise stop and want something scenic, flexible, and easy to recreate, save this itinerary for later. 🤍

Resort day = 10/10 🌴✨

We tried Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace through ResortPass and this one is officially going on the “we’re coming back” list.

The food was good, the service was amazing, and the lazy river? Easily the best part. 😂 We spent way too much time floating around and had zero regrets.

Such an easy girls’ day without needing to book a whole hotel stay.

Would absolutely do this one again. 💦☀️

Orlando girls’ day idea 🌴☀️

We spent the day at Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace Disney Springs using ResortPass and this one was SUCH a win.

The pool area was huge, it never felt overly crowded, the food was actually really good, service was great, and the lazy river absolutely stole the show. I’m pretty sure we went around it 10 times 😂

For our date, we paid $35 per person, which honestly felt very worth it for a full resort day without having to book a room.

Would I come back? Absolutely.

Save this for your next Orlando girls’ day, staycation, or “I need to sit by a pool and disappear for a few hours” kind of day. 🌴

Who said you can’t really explore on a cruise port day? 🇮🇹🚢

We were sailing with MSC Musica and booked an excursion through the cruise ship. After docking in Civitavecchia, we had transportation from the port and boarded a guided bus to Rome. The journey took about 2 hours each way, and along the way, we learned more about the places we were about to see.

Once we arrived, we had roughly 4 hours to explore before heading back to the ship.

And somehow, we packed in SO much:

✨ The Colosseum
✨ Vatican City
✨ The Pantheon
✨ Trevi Fountain
✨ Ancient Roman ruins
✨ Plenty of wandering through the streets of Rome

Was it a full day? Absolutely. 😂
Was it worth it? 100%.

Cruising doesn’t always mean spending the day right next to the port. Sometimes it means booking an excursion, hopping on a guided bus, and squeezing an entire bucket-list city into a few unforgettable hours.

Maybe I take too many photos.

Sardinia really said, “let me ruin every other beach for you.” 🇮🇹🌊

Crystal-clear water, dramatic coastline, little hidden coves… this was one of those days where every stop somehow looked better than the last.

We booked our experience through Viator, which made it super easy to see more of Sardinia without having to figure out all the logistics ourselves. Definitely one of my favorite ways to explore somewhere new. ✨
