Driving Investment. Creating Jobs. Strengthening Local Value Chains.

As part of its client aftercare programme, the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) conducted a site visit to Giant Expert PTY LTD, a BITC-assisted company, in Dikgatlong. The engagement provided an opportunity to assess the company’s progress in implementing its investment, understand its operational challenges and explore ways to support its continued growth in Botswana.

A key focus of the engagement was assisting the company with efforts to facilitate an electricity connection at its farm, reinforcing BITC’s commitment to supporting investors beyond the initial investment stage and helping businesses overcome operational challenges that may affect their growth and productivity.

Giant Expert PTY LTD is making a notable contribution to Botswana’s agricultural sector through diversified crop production, including wheat, potatoes, maize, sunflower and sorghum. The company currently employs 350 local people, demonstrating the role of agricultural investment in creating employment and supporting livelihoods.

Its contribution extends across the agricultural value chain, with the company supplying Bolux Botswana and Bokomo, linking local agricultural production to established businesses and strengthening domestic supply chains. These partnerships underscore the importance of a competitive agricultural sector in supporting local industries, enhancing food security and reducing reliance on imported agricultural products.

The company’s operations also demonstrate the broader investment opportunities within agriculture, including mechanisation, grain storage, transport, packaging and market development. With the right infrastructure and continued investment support, enterprises such as Giant Expert PTY LTD can expand their productive capacity, strengthen market linkages and contribute to Botswana’s ambition of building a more diversified and resilient economy.

YOU SEE ONE TOWER. WE SEE THE REACH OF GROWTH.

When Gaborone was established as Botswana’s capital in the 1960s, the infrastructure needed to serve the new city was still in its early stages. The landmark 'Onion' water tower stands as a strong representation of that beginning.

Today, Botswana’s infrastructure extends far beyond the capital, with networks for water, electricity, telecommunications and roads connecting communities and supporting economic activity across the country and opening doors to the world.

This is growth measured not simply by how high we build, but by how far opportunity can reach.

For investment, that reach matters. Infrastructure and connectivity help create the conditions for businesses to establish, operate and grow beyond Gaborone, opening opportunities across the country.

From one tower serving one city to infrastructure connecting a nation, the story is one of progress, possibility and opportunity. And through its mandate, BITC helps turn that reach into investment, trade and growth for Botswana.

Re Godisa Botswana. Growing together. Thriving together.

YOU SEE ORAPA HOUSE. WE SEE WHAT DIAMONDS BUILT.

Botswana’s diamond story is deeply connected to the country’s transformation since independence. The sector has historically been a major source of export earnings and government revenue, helping create the foundation for the development we see today.

Orapa House stands as a reminder of that journey, of a natural resource that helped finance Botswana’s growth and create the foundation for a stronger economy.

But growth cannot stand still.

Today, the opportunity is to build beyond what has carried us this far, expanding investment, developing new industries, growing exports and creating new sources of economic value. What diamonds built, diversification now carries forward.
