No smell of Christmas food to wake you up.
No visiting kids dressed in their new clothes.
No early morning noise, no laughter spilling into the street.

Just silence. Cold. Another regular day that happens to be December 25th.

You miss home in ways you can’t fully explain.
You miss the chaos, the food, the joy, the togetherness.
You miss being surrounded by people who understand you without you saying a word.

Living abroad teaches strength, but it also teaches loneliness.
You learn to celebrate quietly.
You learn to smile through the ache.
You learn to carry two worlds in your heart.

To everyone living far from home today.

October 20, 2020 — a night that changed me forever.

I stood at the Lekki Toll Gate with hope in my chest and fire in my heart. We were young, fearless, and tired of being silenced. We didn’t carry weapons — only flags, chants, and dreams of a better Nigeria. But that night, under the bright lights, hope was met with gunfire.

To the dearly departed — your names may fade from the headlines, but your courage will never fade from our hearts. You stood when silence was safer. You lit a fire that can never be put out. 🕯️💚

To my unborn children — I want you to know, I tried.
I tried to believe.
I tried to fight for the country that should have protected us.
I tried to stay, to build, to hope.

But when I saw how easily life could be taken for simply demanding dignity, something in me shifted. That was the night I decided I wanted to live — not just survive.

That’s why I left. Not because I stopped loving Nigeria, but because I refused to let my dreams die where truth was punished. I wanted the freedom to grow, to breathe, to raise you in a place where your voice won’t cost you your life.

Five years on, what has changed?
The same faces, the same excuses, the same pain. But also — the same courage in those who still dare to speak. We remember, because forgetting would mean accepting.
