A Humble Giant With a Powerful Story 🏀

I had the privilege of connecting with @hasheemthedream Hasheem Thabeet and inviting him to visit our @nbabasketballschool_uae NBA Basketball School Dubai practice to speak with our young players. Without hesitation, he said yes.

He arrived right on time to a packed gym filled with excited players, parents and coaches. Hasheem shared his inspiring journey from Tanzania, Africa, to high school, college, and ultimately being selected 2nd overall in the 2009 NBA Draft. And played against players like @lebron @kobebryant @dwyanewade @stephencurry30 just to name a few.

I also had the privilege of doing a Q&A with him, where our players had the opportunity to hear firsthand what it takes to reach the highest level and compete against some of the greatest players to ever play the game.

What stood out most was his humility and willingness to connect with the kids. His message went beyond basketball — work hard, stay disciplined, embrace the journey, and never forget where you came from.

Thank you, Hasheem, for sharing your time, your story and your wisdom with our players.

From Tanzania to the NBA — a journey worth learning from. 🇹🇿🏀🇦🇪

A truly special experience in Abu Dhabi. 🏀

Having the opportunity to watch some of the great NBA coaches from the sideline, meet NBA legends, and be part of the NBA Academy Showcase Abu Dhabi was an experience I will always value.

What stood out most were the conversations — listening to coaches share their philosophies, their approach to teaching, and the attention they give to the smallest details that ultimately make a big difference.

Being around people who have shaped the game at the highest level is a reminder that coaching is a continuous journey of learning, observing, questioning, and growing.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and share the game with so many great minds and legends of basketball.

Always learning. Always growing. Always grateful for the game. 🏀

Talent Identified. Potential Recognized. Opportunity Earned. 🏀

A great example of what happens when talent, hard work, discipline and consistency come together.

After being identified and evaluated, this young @_.danitello._36 basketball talent has earned his selection to the NBA Academy Showcase in Abu Dhabi.

A significant opportunity to compete, learn and showcase his abilities on a bigger stage.

The journey continues. The work continues. The future is bright. 🌍🏀

“Great players are not built in a day. They are developed through discipline, repetition, guidance and the willingness to learn. 🏀

Working with the next generation at the NBA Academy Abu Dhabi Summer Workouts reminds me that every young player has potential. Our job as coaches is to teach the fundamentals, build confidence and create an environment where they can grow both on and off the court.

The skills they learn today become the foundation for the player and person they become tomorrow. Keep working. Keep learning. Keep believing. 🏀💯”
