$5.99 protecting a piece of history worth well over $1,000,000. Let that sink in. I can’t show the label on this Action Comics 1 right now, but this is easily one of the most valuable books I’ve ever seen wearing a keyguard. There’s something pretty wild about a product I’m currently selling for $5.99 being trusted on a comic at this level. That’s exactly why I built these. Whether your slab is worth $100 or seven figures, the purpose is the same. Add another layer of protection without taking anything away from the book. Huge shoutout to @godlycomics for trusting keyguard with an absolute piece of comic book history. This one is different. keyguard.shop #collectibles #keyguard #manga #comics by @godlycomics

It was really special to be in Houston to celebrate Masako Nozawa’s 90th birthday. I also finally got to meet friends I’d known through Instagram for a long time, and we had a really fun two days together. During my time in Houston, I met four voice actors who have played Goku, including Masako Nozawa, as well as the voice actor of Beerus. I also completed a collection that means a lot to me. I had a chance to talk briefly with Masako Nozawa and wish her a happy birthday in person. I also gave her a short handwritten letter, and she read it right there in front of me, haha. When I told her I had come from South Korea, she seemed surprised. When I showed her an old Dragon Ball animation script I had brought with me, she looked at it and said, “I remember this.” That was a special moment for me. I also showed her an original piece of artwork hand-drawn by Akira Toriyama around 40 years ago. She seemed surprised when she saw it. As I said goodbye and turned to leave, I heard Masako Nozawa say behind me, “Sugoi desu ne” (すごいですね / “That’s amazing”). Those words stayed with me. I think she was probably referring to Toriyama-sensei’s original artwork I had just shown her. It was only two days in Houston, but I came home with a lot of great memories. Just like these moments captured on film, I hope the memories of those days stay with us for a long time. To everyone who shared those days with me, thank you. taken in Reliant Center by @godlycomics

Between 1982 and 1983, Akira Toriyama created this original hand-drawn and colored sketch for the logo designs of the Toriyama Akira Hozonkai and BIRD STUDIO. This time, I took a closer look at the original artwork under high magnification. The moment a pencil touches paper, graphite is pushed and spread into the fibers—and those traces are still there. Where each line begins and ends, where strokes overlap, where more pressure was applied, and even the minute traces left by pen and coloring materials all look completely different from what we can see with the naked eye. Following these tiny details, we can get a sense of how Toriyama formed each line and shape, and how an idea in his mind gradually developed into a design. With just a few lines, an idea begins to take shape. Then color is added, and the design comes together. Looking this closely at those traces feels almost like watching Toriyama’s distinctive ideas and artistic sensibility take physical form on the paper. The high magnification also revealed something that was almost impossible to see with the naked eye. In several areas where the yellow and black meet, minute traces of red can be seen. It is an intriguing detail that suggests another pen or coloring material may have been used in addition to the colors previously visible to the naked eye. At some moment between 1982 and 1983, Toriyama’s hand moved across this paper with pencil and pen, adding color and leaving these traces behind. That moment of creation has remained here like a time capsule, preserved on the paper for more than 40 years.
