In a few hours the new Tracers song Samurai Lake will be available everywhere. It’s a really unique song for us in that it was essentially entirely written by my brother Chris and uniquely features lyrics that follow a bit of a storyline. When he first showed me the tune, I was immediately drawn to the vibey leads he has going over the beat and the fact that you sort of get hypnotized by the rhythms.

You might notice the rhythm guitar doesn’t really follow a traditional loop of 4 or 8 bars which creates this sort of trance feeling like you’re going in circles and don’t exactly know when or where you started. Which to me really ties into the lyrics talking about being lost.

The 16th note beat sets the stage nicely and to me really shows off Dylan’s unique and dynamic ability to add movement to a song. The groove is just so uniquely Dylan and has all of his signature fills that add to the overall feel.

It’s just one of those songs where all the elements come together. We enjoyed playing it over the years and hope you enjoy it too. 💙 by @going2themoon_archive
