While we wait for our bundle of joy to arrive at the beginning of May, I'll be wrapping up client projects, attending client annual shareholder meetings, client fundraisers, and RESTING.

I look forward to sharing MY business owner journey this summer as we navigate a new chapter personally. In hopes of showing a real view of what owning a business as a mom look likes.

Looking to make an impact through your business during the holidays? Here are some suggestions since charitable giving is NOT typically a business write off:

🎄 Buy a sponsorship
That ad for the baseball team or gala is a marketing expense.

🎄 Donate goods or services
Expense what you donate under advertising for your business.

🎄 Donate your time
Most non-profits just need more hands during the winter busy season, so donate the most valuable asset you have.

Ideally a W-9 should be gathered when services are being quoted or paid for, but sometimes that isn't feasible. So what do you do now to prepare for the end of the year?

I have all of my clients start gathering W-9s now. A lot of people take time off around the holidays so it's very hard to get W-9s after Christmas or New Years during crunch time.

✨ What is a W-9?
It is an IRS form that communicates business filing statuses.

✨ So why do you need to request a W-9?
Each year 1099s are due to be filed by every business owner if they paid for services of some kind. Including rents paid and attorney fees. The W-9 provides info from the business in order to file a 1099 if needed.

✨ Who do you get a W-9 from?
Anyone that provides a service to your business. Even if it's under $600, you SHOULD request a W-9 at time of service.

Feeling all of the end of vacation feels, so we are being cheesy.
