Some projects are meant to entertain. Others document a season of life. After sitting with the project, what stood out most to me was its intentionality. Senescence leans into aggressive minimalism allowing the emotions—not overproduction—to carry the weight. Themes of identity, healing, and transformation run throughout the tape, making it feel less like a rebrand and more of a personal reset.

When I asked tearsxjoy what Senescence meant to him, he said:

“I was shedding parts of myself that needed to ‘die’ in order for me to grow.”

He also shared that the project was remade twice over two years, with the goal of creating “an experience and a world around the music.”

To me, that’s exactly what Senescence delivers—an authentic look at growth and becoming a better version of yourself.

Jako is a Mexican-American artist coming straight out of Atlanta, bringing a smooth mix of R&B and soft trap while refusing to stay boxed into one sound. Driven by a genuine love for music, he experiments across genres, creating whatever feels right in the moment. For Jako, it’s not about fitting in it’s about exploring and evolving.

From raw to refined.

Back in June 2023, I sat down with @2ksantana00 when everything was still early the sound, the vision, the journey. It was all coming together in real time.

Now we’re here.

In this updated conversation, you can hear the difference not just in the music, but in how he thinks, moves, and approaches his craft. What started as freestyles and feeling is turning into something more intentional… more personal…more art
