🕯Remembering Bennie🕯

It's with heavy hearts we share the sad news of the passing of sweet hospice foster, Bennie.

Bennie arrived at GRIN at the tail end of November. In December, at a suture removal appointment for a mass found on his flank, he had lost an astonishing 10 pounds in two weeks. Upon further examination, he had hermangiosarcome, an aggressive form of cancer on his spleen.

In his loving foster home Bennie was treated like royalty and kept everyone on their toes. He lived his best life in foster care for nine fun-filled, adventure packed months. Looking at Bennie you wouldn't have known he was battling cancer. You wouldn't believe how fast Bennie ran or how puzzled his foster family would he when they'd walk into the living room and Bennie would be relaxing on the couch. Bennie enjoyed everyday to its fullest.

The highlights of Bennie's days included:
💨 running around the yard and on occasion the dog park doing his little Bennie hops
🍦 snacking on ice cream and pup cups
⛱️ adventuring to the dog friendly beach
🐶 cuddling up next to his foster sister, Boomies, and befriending everyone he met
🦴 taste testing all the treats
☀️ sunbathing on the porch in the warmer months
🏆 being the Most Gentle Pup
🎉 celebrating many joyous moments with friends of GRIN and being such a great ambassador.

The love and support for Bennie was unmatched. He's touched so many people and your love for him hasn't gone unnoticed.

Being a foster is a challenge, as you love unconditionally, but it's totally worth it. Bennie was Carissa, Logan, and Boomies' first foster. The foster family appreciates all the support they received through the months and they always got a small chuckle when learning that GRIN was being messaged to see of Bennie was making special appearances at events. It was truly amazing to see everyone rally to support Bennie, GRIN, and bring awareness to hospice fosters at the Bark-B-Que in May and Bennie's 11th Barkday Bash in July.

While we wish that we had more time with our bright, happy smiling boy, we know that Bennie's second chance at life was fulfilled and many happy memories were made.

We love our gifted @spunkypupofficial toys and here's why!

Boomies had the llama and chamelon for years and now we have the clownfish to add to our collection ❤️
