THE PILLARS, September 4 and 5 in Sherwood Park

The Pillars is a two day celebration of hip hop culture, built around dance, music, art, competition, and community.

Friday, September 4
Dancefusion Academy of Dance, Sherwood Park

Friday is about getting together before the main event. We will have workshops and a community cypher where dancers can train, learn, connect, and share the floor.

Saturday, September 5
Broadmoor Lake Park, Sherwood Park

Check in opens at 11:00 AM, with prelims starting at 11:30 AM. Battles will run throughout the day until around 6:00 PM.

Saturday will include:

• Breaking battles
• Open Styles battles
• Youth Dance Your Style
• Live DJing
• MCing and live rapping
• Live murals from graffiti artists
• Cyphers and community sessions throughout the day

There will be $500 for the Breaking winner, $500 for the Open Styles winner, and $150 for the Youth Dance Your Style winner.

The event is free to come watch, and we want it to feel welcoming whether you have been part of the scene for years or you are seeing a battle for the first time.

For us, The Pillars is about putting the different parts of hip hop culture in the same space and letting people experience them together. Come for the battles, take a workshop, watch artists paint, hear the DJ and MCs, jump into a cypher, or just hang out and see what the community is about.
