Why do I do this to myself? 🤣🤣

I was working this piece many years ago, back when my beloved nan was still with us - and she adored all the metallic thread and the gorgeous colours and took such pride in my crafting ability.

Unfortunately I was halfway through it when a portion of the pattern went missing in a Cheltenham hotel - so I've spent years hunting it down again!

Now I just need some embroidery wax, to deal with the Metallic Thread of Doom...

"Excuse me? I nommed all the chicken and it's wet out here. Can I come in and raid your fridge?"

Poor Aurelia. I didn't even expect her last night because she hates the rain ☔ ☔

What an amazing twelve months! From the night Rumi first appeared in our garden, we became more blessed than we ever expected. Rumi quickly brought Lilith, and we watched with admiration and wonder as Rumi began to arrive on his own and take food to a confined Lilith and then their cubs. Watching Rua, Aurelia, and Tiernan grow from cubs to the young adults that they are now has been an absolute joy.

I absolutely cannot wait to see it all over again, as mating season fast approaches.

A beautiful still from our fox/hedgehog garden cam. Aurelia is all grown up now, and a perfect mix of both parents in her lovely features. We love her dearly ❤️

Rumi has begun returning to my garden. Not long now, until he and Lilith are together again for the season 🦊

"Certainly witchcraft for Tiffany has very little to do with magic as people generally understand it. It has an awful lot to do with taking responsibility for yourself and taking responsibility also for the less able people and, up to a certain point, guarding your society. This is based on how witchcraft really was, I suspect. The witch was the village herbalist, the midwife, the person who knew things. She would sit up with the dying, lay out the corpses, deliver the newborn. Witches tended to be needed when human beings were meeting the dangerous edges of their lives, the places where there is no map. They don't mess around with tinkly spells; they get their hands dirty."

I wanted to preface with this magnificent quote from the wonderful Sir Terry Pratchett, concerning Tiffany Aching. Terry knew what witches are about - and he never wrote a character without researching what they were about in their professions or beliefs.

This book arrived yesterday, written by fellow Discworld fan and generally good bloke @theantleredcrown. And I can't wait to get stuck in. Because I'm my family's Tiffany Aching, and this is my kind of magic.

Wishing you all a wonderful Alban Elfed/Autumn Equinox! Autumn is my favourite season of them all: a time to curl up and relax with a hot drink, thermal socks and an Oodie, while your thoughts turn inwards to self-reflection.

Usually I would have plans - but, for the second year running, I'm too unwell (although the antibiotics are beginning to do their thing). So Dom is bringing the Equinox meal upstairs to me, this year, where we'll eat it together and place some crusty bread on my altar.

My husband: Fancy going to the steampunk event at @museumofpower to catch up with some steampunk friends?

Me: Yes! What a great idea!

My sinuses, that night: Guess again, sucker.

I was hoping to feel considerably less horrendous today, thanks to trusty old Amoxicillin. I do, in fact, feel even more horrendous today, as my sinus infection has now been joined by the first cold I've had in more than 15 years. So I am stuck in bed, trying to stay warm, hugging a box of tissues, and watching last night's footage of our foxes and hedgehogs.

On the plus side, I've almost caught back up to where I was on my Labyrinth worm before I discovered the tear in the previous aida. Then it's back to my fox, and Van Gogh's Sunflowers - and perhaps the Victorian snowscape that will definitely not be ready for Yule.

I hope you're all having a better week than I am! ❤️

While starting the process of getting my garden ready for winter, I managed to cut a small posy of flowers from my lemon verbena. A final flourish of summer, as we head into the darker, quieter days of autumn 🍂🍂

Meet Tiernan - and his plums 😂

The "boyfriend" turns out to be a brother to Aurelia and Rua - who I somehow missed in all the havoc of cubs bouncing around!

Meanwhile... Lilith is wondering what she's possibly unleashed into the neighbourhood...
