Just a weird little whimsical lady making art, and ceramics in Ohio
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Hannya, in Japanese, translates to ‘wisdom’ and the masks are often seen as a symbol of good luck, a talisman against evil and bad vibes. They also serve as a reminder to be wise in your romantic life, as the hannya mask is also used in Noh theatre to portray the souls of women who have become demons due to obsession, or jealousy.
The eyes, horns, and teeth are made out of hand blown GLOW-in-the-dark glass from @fremont_antique_glass from seattle, along with fusible @oceansidecompatible . The entire mask was hand painted with liquid glass ‘paint’ and fused in the kiln at a holding temp a little higher than I normally go, to permanently be embedded in the glass, and give off a glazed porcelain feel. This particular one was hand painted with peonies, along with a Ryu dragon; which is believed to impart wisdom, bring strength, and courage at turning points in our lives..

I wanted the entire thing to be haunting, and romantic feeling, but still a little playful.

Thanks for looking!

I’m so proud of how this piece came together!! The size of it really intimidated me as a whole.

It felt overwhelming at times, and nerve wracking cutting into my vintage handblown glass stash with zero room for error.

That’s also what made it so fun, special, and in the end so satisfying. The cherry on top of all of this was knowing I was making this just for me, and that it gets to stay. It’s breathtaking in person, and I love that I get to share it with everyone that comes to our home.

Now gotta come up with something for the other two windows!! 😍

Thanks for looking! 🐊

one of a kind, hand painted, and kiln fired. Bold solder lines and delicate feminine details felt appropriate for the contrast of the hidden skull, traditional ‘bent over backwards lady’ tattoo flash imagery I borrowed and made my own. I used inspiration from Delftware, and vintage chinese pottery, free handing whatever came out of my brain that felt like it made sense to fill in the space.

I haven’t decided whether or not i’m going to let this one go, or if it’s going to hang out with me for a while as a reminder ‘to create for yourself and not always be concerned with making for others’

Thank you for looking and all the love this one got in the process 🥰

Holyyyyy this bowl turned out so pretty 😭 It was a late night at the studio when I started carving this seaside inspired bowl. You know that feeling when you don’t really have a plan but you get into that flow state of creating? The kind where time disappears, and your brain just silences? It’s truly my favorite feeling in the whole world. I’ve been finding it a lot more lately and I’m feeling pretty excited about all the things I’ve been putting together.

Hand painted ceramic fortune cookies! Obviously I had to pop a fortune in there, and wrap them up in their traditional cellophane wrapper for the ultimate unwrapping experience.

I kind of wanted to make these as a blind box style, but I’ll save that for the future renditions.

You can find these at the @floralfoxcoffeeco market on the 18th, hope to see you there! by @gonebadartworks

Just a little appreciation post, and a big thank you to all the people who choose to spend their hard earned dollars on my artwork in this economy *like, pinch me is this real life?* I am extremely grateful and I hope when you receive your packages you really know how appreciated you are. As I grow, I’ve been really trying to amp up the ‘special’ aspect of ordering from a solo gal making art. So, while you might get upcycled boxes and packing materials every order receives some very new stickers, a handwritten postcard, and currently a fortune fish because a little whimsy never hurt anyone.

Ok that’s all, thank you, be good out there ❤️ by @gonebadartworks

Happy Labor Day! What perfect timing for this ‘ode to my years of Chicago party girl’ travel mug to come out of the kiln. I’m gearing up for the @floralfoxcoffeeco October market currently, whipping up all the fun things my brain has been itching to make, like this @pabstblueribbon travel mug. While its intended size is for a cappuccino/flat white, no one’s stopping you from cracking open a crispy cold boy in there.

Thanks for indulging my whimsy 🫶 by @gonebadartworks

Fortune fish mugs! I posted a reel about these cuties the other day and had a lot of messages about wanting to snag one (thank you btw, that’s really insane and cool that people want to buy things i make with my little raccoon hands)

I can’t stop staring at these, it truly feels like magic to be able to turn a picture in your brain into a physical tangible object that can be shared and i don’t know if I’ll ever get over how this (and all ceramic things) begin by being just a ball of wet dirt. 🪄

Anyway, the answer is yes, you can snag one next Friday 🤗 by @gonebadartworks

Fortune fish!! When this idea first popped into my brain it wouldn’t leave until I made it happen. I love these little guys and am so stoked with how the mug version turned out. I played around with making my own version of the design for it and turned that into a silkscreen so I could recreate a few of them. I made a cookie cutter of a fish so i could create the handle additions. I’m learning that I’m a bit extra when it comes to making my pottery ideas come to life, but wouldn’t change a thing. The labor of love process is part of what makes it so fun!

In a world full of mass production and AI, I find myself leaning more into things feeling and being as one of a kind and slow made as possible. Just feels a little more special that way. Here’s a little process into the making of this little good luck travel mug 🤗 by @gonebadartworks

I had entirely too much fun with this last round of @mitten.clay.co stains. These porcelain tumblers came out sooo vibrant, like, 🤩 wow. I love the mini cup the most with the way it looks like an electric desert sunset. The middle one reminds me of the mountains in Banff with its glacier blue water running through impossibly high peaks and valleys. The bottom one is a colorful space galaxy with tiny rainbow stars thanks to @flecksandspecksgrog eek, just love them so. 🤗 by @gonebadartworks
