POSTS STORIES REELS

There is so much to say about this experience that I went through on the Camino de Santiago, and it’s very hard to find the words, but here are the things that I thought were special:

1. The views of the Atlantic Ocean and feeling this power of those waves, and walking through the tiny villages of Portugal, made it so special and made you appreciate and see so much more than you’d just normally have a chance to be exposed to.

2. Walking through Galician villages early in the morning and feeling the mist on your skin, walking through dark forest and feeling an absolute peace, like a slow meditation.

3. Staying at hostels - which you understand, the community integration is not about luxurious hotels, (however you can do it that way as well). The albergues are normally very minimalistic, but it just makes you appreciate how a very cute-looking place with just clean sheets and enough space for you to rest is a good place and good conditions for you to actually enjoy it. There’s not much you need for happiness.

4. And the last one is feeling that you are able to do so much more than you actually thought you could. Just walking miles and miles a day, and then arriving at a place feeling absolutely exhausted, and then waking up and being able to do it all over again across 10 days. It’s not just impossible to wrap your head around - you walk out feeling like an absolutely different human, like you can do so much more, and it just expands your own perception of yourself.

I just finished my Camino de Santiago, and it took me a little while to plan, prepare and learn everything to get myself ready. So just to save you some time, I put together a guide on the Camino de Santiago that has all the tips, recommendations and packing list.

Comment “Camino” and I’ll send it to you 🤍

Not every scenic view was hard to get to! These 5 are my favorites.
Rating every hike based in how hard it was to get to it and how hard to complete:

- Lion’s Head, South Africa: 2/5, about 2–3 hours. The trail is short and steep and ends with some chains and ladders (you can skip them though). Best cityscape 360 degree view I’ve seen!

- Elephant Rock, Iceland (Heimaey island): 1/5, short hike, but getting there takes a ferry. If lucky, you can spot a puffin!

- Huemul Glacier, Argentina: 3/5, about 4–5 hours. It starts at Lago del Desierto near El Chaltén, which is a long, rough drive.

- Cabo da Roca, Portugal: 1/5 for the lighthouse viewpoint, about 30 minutes. The coastal walk down to Praia da Ursa beach is a steep scramble, more like 2/5 and 1–2 hours.

- Acatenango, Guatemala: 5/5, this is a freaking beat-down, but so much worth it. An overnight trip of about 1.5 days with 5–7 hours of climbing on day one, followed by another 6 hours to Fuego for eruption views. The hardest thing I’ve ever done!

Is it me just being my Gemini self, or do I just refuse to accept any trade-offs or make any hard choices? I want both sides of the spectrum of human experience - be girl's girl and be an adventurous, outdoorsy adventurer. The list goes on!

Going solo or having a company. I mean, what if the company for what I want to do just doesn't exist or isn't available at the moment? I'm not staying home because I can't find someone who'll join. That way my Camino trip would have never happened!

Being in love and being independent. If anything, I discovered so many sides of myself that my husband found in me and let them expand and flourish. by @gonomadbabe

Planning Camino de Santiago made easy! Comment “Camino” and I’ll send you my guide I wrote up carefully for girlies who’re about to have their Camino experience.
First things first - picking the route. There’re 6 routes, and these are only THE MOST popular - so, the reality is - there’s even more than that!! How to choose?

Three main questions I’ve asked myself to figure out the best suited route. Check out in the video!! K bye, xoxo

She needed her long walk

I’ve been asked various times on why I decided to walk Camino de Santiago. The shortest answer you guys: it’s just straight up looked like something that I would do. I love the adventure, enjoy being outside, don’t mind the physical challenge and loved the effect of calming the storm of my thoughts.

One of the greatest things is that I’ve seen other girls walked the Camino, and I bet their desire to go in a solo adventure was just as big as mine. 53% of pilgrims last year were female. Yepp, let it be your sign to plan your walk soon, too ❤️

Turning 30 this year made be pause for a sec and re-evaluate things.

I’m so ready for my lock-in season, to work on my goals and turn my “maybe next year” kinda dreams into actionable plan.

I am talking here about travel related things, that are bucket-list worthy:
- swim with the whales
- dive in the Red Sea
- complete tour de Mont Blanc, summit Kilimanjaro
- find home for the first time in the past 5 years of life out of a suitcase!! (I’m tireddd)

But I also have plenty of boring or very simple things that I want to complete, which was a little harder to find time for:

- get a driver license
- prioritize friendship!!
- cook turkey for thanksgiving
- have my first real Halloween
- daily grind at the gym + prep for my first 10k run

I’m kicking this series off to share more BTS of this crazy life and my sincere attempts to make the most out of. I’m having lots of fun, hop you will too!!

Talk soon, Daria

Side quest to the jungle 1,5 h from Barcelona. I couldn’t believe this view is real!

Sometimes, while in Barcelona, I just crave a little nature escape; that’s how I found this place. The exact recipe is:

• Catch a train to Blanes from Barcelona (R1)
• Sa Palomera Rock - so much fun to climb - this rock marks the exact geographic start of the Costa Brava; the top opens up a stunning view of the coastline.
• The Marimurtra Botanical Garden -15€ gets you access to one of the most interesting plant species in one of the most insanely scenic settings, cascading down the dramatic sea cliffs. Bring books or journal under the shade of tall cacti!
• Castell de Sant Joan - if you’re up for another hike, 20 min and you’re at the 11th-century castle lookout. I kinda get why they put the castle there; this is 1 on a one-in-a-million view, opening up from the stone window frame.
• Get Suquet de peix (a classic Catalan potato and fish stew) for lunch in one of the tavernas in the harbour.

Best of daily Camino vlogs - tap any to view!

Before going on my own journey I probably watched hours of content just for the inspiration, and I even listened to a podcast with pilgrim stories. That was so great just to see what is life like on the Camino and to get ever more excited for the upcoming trip!

Picture vs Actual life - doesn’t quite match!
I can’t believe I dug out those archives 🙂‍↔️
Some situations might be just invisible to others, esp in social media we don’t really get to see what’s going on behind the content

- I started traveling solo and went to SEA first, it took me months to start feeling comfortable and set up new life structures (all worked out though!)
- one month solo in Bangkok turned out the best experience I had even though i was very stressed out and going through a rough patch in life
- I took bike lessons in Bali, properly learned how to drive on the parking lot, but it was torture to drive on the roads every single time. I was literally ghosting my bike and taking grab taxis everywhere to avoid driving, so bad, clumsy and awful it felt. Months later I was able to drive to any parts of the island w/ 0 problem.
- Hikes. I did plenty of hikes by now but I am still freaking out every time and don’t believe I could make it. Anyone did Lions Head hike? It’s a really steep and a very very nerve wrecking hike even though it’s short. But the viewwww 🤌
