The countdown to #12x12ArtFundraiser is on and it's time to start getting to know some of the artists behind the work! Say hi to cat (@goodgrief.art), Behnaz Sohrabian (@behnaz_sohrabian), and Leslie Waugh Dallam (@leslieslocalcolor)

✨Cat's creative practice began as a place of sanctuary and surrender during a season of deep loss, and has since extended into the in-between—the spaces that don't resolve neatly into grief or joy, meaning or meaninglessness. As an exploratory artist, they embrace the spontaneity of their mediums, allowing each piece to reflect raw, unspoken moments. Cat works in watercolor, ink, and inherited thread, layering a physical, tactile act of mending onto each image. Cat invites viewers to connect with their own emotional landscapes and our shared human experience.

✨Born and educated in Tehran, Iran, Sohrabian discovered her love of art, freedom and creative expression as a small child, developed a passion for painting and began her professional art career at the age of 10. Behnaz has earned a B.S. in Applied Chemistry, a B.A. in Painting and a Master of Arts in Art Studies. After completing her Master’s degree she immigrated to the United States in 2010.

✨ Leslie is a local artist from Norman Oklahoma. She was born in Albuquerque New Mexico. She received her BA in studio art and her M.Ed. at East Central University in Ada Oklahoma. She derives her ideas for her artwork from her childhood memories and experiences from her adulthood. Her artwork is simplistic, colorful and details are integrated in her art by using her white ink pen throughout each painting.

Get to know know the artists, explore their work, and start building you 12x12 wishlist before October 3rd! 👀

🎨 The 12x12 Art Fundraiser raises vital funds for all of OVAC's programs and services, ensuring Oklahoma is a place where visual artists can thrive and make a positive impact in their communities.
