Lola Reed’s Solo Exhibition ‘Dogs Keep Revealing Themselves to Me’ is opening 6.13.26 at 945 Market St. 4-7PMIn that their altered bloodstreams reflect centuries of commercialization. A body that has been tweaked through time then becomes a perfect vessel of class and accessory. If everything is commodity, the living form is no exception. If everything is easily reproduced and digested, will humanity exist on the margins as vessle for product and desire?Obsolescence, or rather planned obsolescence, plagues the world with constant production and reproduction. If body is commodity, the body must also become obsolete. It must be altered, reworked, mutilated, and destroyed, only to be rebuilt in a disposable fashion. If life can be genetically molded or transfixed through mutilation, the body is commodity.The bodily commodity is perpetuated by the surveillance of forms, the internal panopticon. Sweet dopamine pleasures that break down the barriers of flesh and indulgence. The absent referent in the makeup of our forms becomes product. We know but must not say.
