Let’s talk about my courses 🤓

I offer private one-on-one training, semi-private for small groups (new dates will be announced here and by email to everyone on the waitlist), and master classes for lash artists who already know the basics and want to level up their technique.

Here’s why I built it this way - I don’t believe in one or two day lash course, sorry not sorry. When I took my first course, I left more confused than ever. I had zero confidence. I didn’t know what I was actually doing, and honestly, I almost gave up on lashes completely (I actually did give up for a year… or two 🤡). What actually changed things for me was a mentorship that lasted weeks, not hours. That’s where I built real skill and real confidence.

So when I created my own course, I built the thing I wished I’d had - something with actual depth, not a rushed weekend that leaves you overwhelmed and under-practiced. One or two days just isn’t enough time to walk out feeling ready! 😫

Unsexy take because would be nice and easy to say “this is the best lash primer to achieve 10 week retention” 🫠… but that’s not really what happened.

Tbh I’m still not sure what happened 😂 we checked and double checked our dates and yes, that was 10 weeks later. However this appointment was half of that time and not as good (but also not bad huh 😏)

I guess it all comes to mastering every other aspect that evolves around making the lash set last as long as possible (and there are many that can affect retention).

So I would say… just keep practicing, learning, perfecting your wrapping technique, finding the best glue FOR YOU (stop falling for “this is the best glue” bs 😩). If you need some help I have an e-book, just send me a dm or comment RREB, you don’t need anything fancy!

The first time she sat in my chair I had invited her to try a style I was experimenting with at the time - I was calling it marble lashes, which was basically a wet set mixing black and brown lashes together 👀 Funny enough I’m seeing that trend everywhere now with colourful lashes and named “balayage” - I guess we were just a little early 🤭

This is your sign to invite someone you know to sit in your chair - a friend, a colleague, someone who has never tried lashes before or never tried them with you specifically.
Offer them a free or model set. Do your best work. Let them experience it.

Foxy eyes used to stress me out 🥲

My first attempt in 2021? It was… humbling 🤣

But here’s what actually helped me get better:
▪️ Direction matters - point them wrong and you shorten the eye instead of elongating it
▪️ Layers are everything - bottom = length, middle/top = darkness
▪️ Mirror check before they leave - catches misaligned fans every time (very important especially for this type of set)

If you don’t feel confident after taking one (sometimes TWO) lash courses, that’s not your fault… it’s a training problem 😭

Lashes take weeks maybe months to start feeling confident about your work. There are so many variables and techniques you need to master before even considering getting a little bit faster…

That’s why I’ve built a 5-week course, so every week we have an specific task to study, practice and focus on, so you don’t feel overwhelmed (like I did at first and that made me give up for a couple of years).

Another problem I’ve seen a lot of people face now is with content. How are you supposed to know what to post?
When I started, posting before and after was pretty much all salons had to do 🤷🏽‍♀️ but now everything changed and that’s far from the truth…

there’s nothing quite like a beauty appointment with a side of bad advice and questionable life coaching

I see my clients more often than I see my own family and honestly at this point we know too much about each others life life to change that 😂

but what gets me every time is the ones that moved away from Hong Kong and still come back to me whenever they visit.
some of them I’m literally the first person they see before they even see their friends or family here.

Part 2 of things I wish I knew in year one
Because apparently 6 years gives you a lot of material 🙂‍↕️

1. Start asking for deposits from day one - the longer you wait the harder it is to introduce

2. The right curl can change everything - it’s just as important as the length and volume
3. Learning how to lash downward and hooded eyes will set you apart from most lash artists out there

4. A cancellation policy is not optional - it’s what keeps your business from bleeding money on bad weeks

5. Diversifying your income streams as early as possible is the thing I wish I had done sooner

6. You will lose clients and it will sting every time - it almost never means you did something wrong

7. Not every client is your client and trying to keep the wrong ones will cost you more than losing them

8. The algorithm will always change - building an email list is the one thing nobody can take from you

9. Showing your process is just as powerful as showing the finished result - people want to see the work behind the work

10. The lash industry changes every single year - what worked two years ago might already be outdated (I learned that the hard way)

Sometimes I feel like nothing much has been happening in my life and it’s too boring to document, but then I remember I:

Got new colorful lashes to test out on myself and my clients…

Signed up for a eating competition on my birthday - and totally failed 😝 …

Received a Halloween candle gift box from my client and now my studio can smell like pumpkin spice for the rest of the year 🤤…

We had a new cute visitor in the studio …

Tested and booked my hair transformation (coming in Nov 👀), something that I used to do a lot when I was younger…

Have this view on my Sunday walks - even though it’s still scorching hot, gotta appreciate the small things 🌆…

Tried a new Japanese restaurant and I’m counting down the days, hours and seconds to our winter trip …

Hit a bench PR of 67kg x2, my goal is 70kg by the end of the year 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽…

Had lots of coaching calls!! I might be doing a special cohort, so if you need help with content and new clients finding you, send me a DM right noowww…

Made lots of fluffy volume lashes…

Got nail with studs 🤣 they had to go after 3 days because I was accidentally scratching myself every day, but they were cute tho 🤷🏽‍♀️ …

Ate steak with potato salad and farofa (aka brazilian salty sand)…

Had a really good pistachio gelato with a side of piccolo latte…

Went to Macau and watched House of Dancing Water (aka aquatic Cirque du Soleil )

Mapping advice I needed as a beginner but most courses won’t teach you 🥲

Imagine being so good your clients don't care where you work 👀

Not the location, not the size of the studio, not whether you're working from home, the back of a salon, a shared bed or your own space - none of it matters when you know how to map their lashes according to their own eye and face structure so every set looks perfect on them.

I've personally been through almost every single one of those setups. The studio apartment, home service, shared space and eventually my own studio. And the one thing that kept me booked through all of them? It was never the space. It was the technique, the retention and the experience I gave my clients. They weren't booking a studio. They were booking me 💁🏽‍♀️

And here's the thing - the holiday season starts next month. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's - clients are already planning and booking ahead.

If you're not where you want to be yet, October is honestly your last real window to fix that before the rush hits 👀
