I was feeling bad for my neighbors this morning when my roosters were crowing (suburban life problems)- so I decided to bring them in and put them in the dog crate. Margot stood guard without flinching for an hour straight- drooling and shaking the whole time. What a weird household we have. As @_mallyrose and I call it, “animal house.” by @goodwill314

Next week is a big week at @woodlawntheatrebham. We have been working really hard to bring great shows to the space and get the word out. I’m really proud of these shows and the work our very small team is doing - and by team, I mean @swtgrl235

If you love storytellers, live music, and being out and free from the couch, grab tickets and spend some time with us next week- it’s gonna be a good one.

3 recent reads that I’m chewing on.

Review Your Anxious Brain by @drcmpittman and Elizabeth Karle has practical tips on dealing with anxiety and increasing distress tolerance. As I’ve been tapering off my SSRIs this has been massively helpful.

The Courage to Be Disliked- as a recovering people pleaser, this one was super interesting. Based on Adler’s psychology, lots of helpful ideas about our personal responsibility in relationships. Reminds me of @melrobbins Let Them Theory in some ways.

Passionate Marriage- haven’t finished but very interesting so far. Some different perspectives on relationships than what I’m used to with @gottmaninstitute based ideas- main topic I’m interested in is differentiation. Has been a new concept to chew on for sure.

What I love (and hate) is that I’m 43 and still learning more about what it means to be human, who I am, and how to take care of myself and those I love. Thankful for the access to knowledge we have in books! What have you been reading? by @goodwill314

Let your kid be a rock star this fall. No, seriously.

The most common response I get from parents who see this program is “I wish we had this when I was growing up.” I couldn’t agree more.

Kids join a band, rehearse weekly and play real shows. What could be cooler than that?

And you get to be their biggest fan.

Compared to other extracurriculars, RBL has them beat.

Concussions- none
Rainouts- nope
Sitting on the bench- never
