Wild weather in Indio. We woke up Sunday morning to being under water. He worked like a champ. Really pleased with his performance. Five guys deserve a H/T, Rastislav Klieštik, Stu Phillips, Armin Winkler and the dynamic duo of Steve Stoops and Shannon Krieger. From breeding to selection to practical training methods and deployment protocols, these guys are on my Detection Mt. Rushmore. Need to make room on the mountain for some other dudes like Cameron and Simon. Four days of just me and him, he seemed to really like that. Back to reality. Nothing is kicking my ass like, “Find the road, Odie. One last mission”. Since the premiere with some incredible humans, those last words from James to Odie it just got me. I think of the places I’ve been and things I’ve done with Yewa. So glad she got to come home with me when I was done. Here she is as the sun set on literally our last mission. TF1 leaving, USSS wrapping up after the Trump campaign folks took off. To work with a dog in critical applications is a privilege I will never forget. We would do it all again. #eod #k9unit #gsd taken in Tucson International Airport - TUS by @gordon.beyer

It’s Got Ya week for Chyro Daveran. Little 9 month old Chyro popped out of his shipping crate at midnight at LAX ready to take on the world. Slovakia to US through Czech and Istanbul. Everything I wanted and more. Social. Stable. Tireless. Perfect medium size and DRIVEN! I was looking for a sable female for work but Rastislav told me I wanted this one. Glad I listened. A loving member of the pack now. Picked up his EOD cert, prepping for @spacecoastpolicek9foundation competition in November and potentially another cert in March at Mesa PD. So many to thank for his success to date: @tompera_k9 @daverankennel_ @k9defense @rivannak9services @zane_dogs. This is going to be a wild and fun ride! Love you, Chyro! taken in Tucson, Arizona by @gordon.beyer

These last and next two from Cameron are amazing. This isn’t for the casual listener looking for white noise to beak the silence. This is for the student looking for history, technique, methodology, philosophy. Looking for ego or arrogance, you won’t find it here. What shines through Cameron’s questions is Shannon’s ability to teach and convey an idea or concept. This one was fun to listen to, as well. It was like being a fly on the wall, listening to old pros from similar training backgrounds discuss their passion. Casual, no nonsense approaches to how do we get from point A to point B and beyond as efficiently, ethically, and mistake free as possible.

Underlying lesson for me was- no one person knows it all. Travel. Get exposure. Talk to different people from different camps in the industry. Be wary of the cats that ‘have it all figured out’. Can’t wait for the next two episodes. #holycrapthiswasamazing #keepitcoming #youdontknowwhatyoudontknow taken in Tucson, Arizona by @gordon.beyer

The Big Night is upon us. A light pre game last night with some amazing people, all here to celebrate these remarkable, God given creatures we call dogs. A quick visit to The Country Music Hall of Fame and then it’s time to get gussied up for the premiere. Another successful HITS conference in Scottsdale. My girls crushed it. Our friends from Slovakia made it and were impressed by the show we put on here in the U.S. for and about our police dogs and their handlers. Some key introductions were made. We learned of new companies in the ecosystem doing great work like @strategicworkingdogs and @factk9training. We learned more about @AK9I and all the great things happening there. As always, we greatly appreciate those agencies and their reps that came by to@see what solutions we have for the obstacles and challenges faced by K9s and their handlers. taken in JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa by @gordon.beyer
