Two sides of India, and one question we still need to ask: When will women's safety become a priority everywhere? 🇮🇳

Today, October 10, Delhi witnessed heavy police deployment, restrictions and detentions ahead of a protest over electoral roll concerns. While authorities cited security reasons, the scenes have also sparked conversations about policing, public safety and the right to protest.

And somewhere in this conversation, we cannot forget the women of our country.

From women officers serving the nation to female police personnel managing protests, and ordinary women who still worry about their safety while travelling, working or simply walking home, every woman deserves respect and protection.

Incidents of violence against women, including the painful events in Manipur, remind us that women's safety cannot become a topic only when something goes viral.

Protecting public order matters. So does protecting women, listening to their concerns and ensuring accountability.

Because women deserve to feel safe not just during a protest or a national crisis, but on an ordinary day too.

Stand-up comedian Sharon Verma has called for the arrest of those allegedly involved in harassing a boy and girl in Jamui, Bihar.

According to her, the issue wasn’t that the girl was outside at night, but that some men couldn’t accept seeing her spending time with someone else.

She described the incident as “sick” and questioned the mindset behind policing a girl’s personal choices while allegedly harassing, humiliating and recording her.

A disturbing incident reported from Jamui, Bihar, has raised serious questions about privacy and public harassment.

A boy and girl were reportedly spending time together when some people confronted them and allegedly began harassing and recording them. The girl repeatedly explained that their families knew about their friendship and asked the group to leave them alone, but the alleged harassment continued.

Whatever their relationship was, being together does not give strangers the right to humiliate, intimidate or forcibly record them.

When did a woman's blouse become a bigger concern than the way society treats her? 💔

A debate over backless blouses at Garba celebrations has once again put women's clothing under scrutiny. While women are simply enjoying Navratri, dancing with friends and celebrating their traditions, some people are busy questioning whether their outfits are appropriate.

But here's something worth thinking about.

Women in India have worn backless blouses with sarees, lehengas and traditional outfits for generations. So why is the same clothing suddenly being questioned in the name of culture?

Navratri is a festival dedicated to Maa Durga, who represents strength, courage and feminine power. Yet, during the very festival that celebrates a goddess, women are being judged for their personal choices.

There's nothing wrong with respecting traditions. But respecting traditions should never become an excuse to shame women or control what they wear.

A woman's clothing does not define her character, her values or her respect for culture. ❤️

Whether she chooses a backless blouse, a traditional saree or a fully covered outfit, that decision belongs to her.

And most importantly, no outfit ever justifies harassment, disrespect or unwanted attention.

If we can worship a goddess for her strength and freedom, shouldn't we also respect those same qualities in the women around us? 🙏

A festival should be a place where women feel safe, respected and free to celebrate, not somewhere they have to defend their clothing choices.

We worship goddesses for their strength, but why do we still struggle to respect the choices of ordinary women? 💔

Ankita Bhandari was just 19. She had dreams, ambitions and an entire life ahead of her. But that future was taken away from her.

Years later, her parents are still fighting for justice, holding placards and demanding answers for their daughter.

And perhaps that's the most heartbreaking part. A father who should have been celebrating his daughter's achievements is instead sitting on the streets, asking for justice.

We celebrate Navratri, worship Maa Durga and speak about women's strength. But outside our temples, women are still fighting for something as basic as safety, dignity and the right to say no.

A woman should not have to become a goddess to deserve respect. She deserves it simply because she is human.

We cannot call ourselves a society that respects women while expecting them to stay silent, tolerate injustice or sacrifice their choices to protect someone else's power.

Ankita deserved to live. Her parents deserve justice. And every woman deserves a world where her refusal is respected.

Worshipping Durga means little if we cannot respect the courage of the women living among us. 💔
