When my father told me that he was going to be able to fulfill his crazy dream of introducing me and the human baby to the magic of Brazil, I must admit that I was not thrilled. Almost 11 hours of flying, car trips, meals at restaurants where we weren't allowed to move, bark, or eat what was on the tables. I tried to change his mind by emphasizing the hassle of the administrative procedures, but he kept telling me that he knew it would be great.
Honestly, he was right. It was wonderful! Rio de Janeiro is incredible! Walking along the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, and Botafogo allowed me to see fantastic landscapes and discover delicious new smells. I met several new friends: they were very nice, but they thought my accent was strange. I also loved spending time with Mom's family, even though they didn't pay much attention to me and only wanted to play, have fun, laugh, and kiss the human baby.
At the end of the trip, Dad told me he was extremely proud of me and that I was truly a perfect dog. It's true that I made a huge effort, but he forgot about the two or three little mistakes I made. My dog friends, if you ever get the chance to travel, don't hesitate, don't sulk—it's an incredible experience!

Céline, dressed as a baby polar bear, asked me why havanese take such good care of their hair. I explained that shiny hair is a sign of good health, and that feeling beautiful makes us feel more confident and happy. She replied that she wanted me to continue feeling beautiful and that she would take care of me. Aware that a 10-month-old human baby isn't always extremely delicate, I pulled out this beautiful Jim Rohn quote. But in the end, we all know that the best people to take good care of us will always be Mom and Dad!

My dream has always been to sit with my family and receive gentle caresses. I had to explain to Céline that for me to succeed in staying calm, in not running to scare the geese, in not barking at the little dogs on the leash, in not being anxious sitting next to a baby, I had to make a lot of effort and make immense progress. I reminded her that she has to believe in her dreams, and that her dream of sitting and gazing at the landscape while giving me cuddles and all her food, she can achieve!

The race. Dad organized a little race between Céline and me. The aim was to get to his yellow duck as quickly as possible. But Céline left before the start was announced, and more importantly, she decided to take my toy! Ah, human babies, they really are incapable of respecting the rules. They're worse than Havana puppies. Slowly. Very slowly, with Céline and Dad, we're making progress. Little by little, we manage to do new things. For this stage, all we had to do was lie still and touch the red notebook at the same time. It sounds very simple, but with a human baby like Céline, it takes a bit of time. She always wanted to turn around after two seconds and start rolling around the room, as she loves to do.

“Carinho” (cuddle in Portuguese). To keep my love affair with my little Céline running smoothly, my parents teach her the command “Carinho”. When they say this word, I have to stand next to her and she can stroke me. As she's still young, they still block her thumb with one finger to prevent her from pulling on my hair. I like it when she strokes me with her little fingers, and what's more, I win treats every time.

For Valentine's Day, I was allowed to give Céline kisses to show her how much I love her. But to get close to her feet, you have to be very patient, because sometimes she makes very sudden movements. I know it never lasts very long, so I wait patiently for the storm to blow over, and when Dad gives me the go-ahead, I go. I think she really liked my kisses!

Interacting, imitating, copying, having fun. With Céline, I now have a lot more interaction. I can feel her trying to grab me, wanting to stroke me. But Dad and I know that she's liable to pull my hair out, so we're very careful. She loves it when I'm close to her, and when Dad asks me to paw, wave or act pretty. Sometimes it even feels like she's trying to give orders. I have a feeling we're going to have a lot of fun soon!

Softness, elegance, self-control. For our next choreography, we're trying to teach Céline to turn around, touch me very gently (without pulling my hair out) and avoid falling on me. I have to do different movements close to Céline, without stopping if she comes too close to me. It's not always easy, but I've signed a deal with Dad: if I stay calm, he gives me generous rewards, and at the end, I get to give my beloved little human a kiss.
