Trying to work more with scale, or using more figures in a scene for my photography. It’s a challenge to try and keep every figure in a good pose since I tend to focus more on the figure I decide is the “center.” I have another post coming that I put a ton of effort in to that I’m very happy with so stay tuned!

“What is the xenos? A blight to be purged!”

Repelling the Xenomorph invasion of Ultramar

Like I said on my last post I’m trying to work more on bigger scale photos and scenes. I drew heavy inspiration from the works of John Blanche. The helmet is a swap from a JOYTOY MK. VI Ultramarine Sternguard Veteran onto Sgt. Gadriel from Space Marine 2. I did it to try and make it look like Malum Caedo from Boltgun. I have 2 xenomorphs and a predalien figure from Hiya Toys so I had set a tripod up and took multiple pictures in order to stitch them together in post. The blood in the foreground was actually 2 red blood effects put together with mounting putty and color shifted to green in post. And finally I used a sparks overlay over everything in GIMP.

New custom! Tried making a Great Crusade/ Horus Heresy era Dark Angel. Got the head 3D printed (files from the_mod on cults3D) kitbashed Cyphers legs and arms onto a MKIII Raven Guard body. The DA are one of my favorite loyalist Chapters/Legions, the winged helms have such strong visual appeal (like the GOATed Night Lords). Might try to repaint the eyes, I have no idea how people can work in such small spaces 😭

“They fought repeatedly in thankless sieges and protracted suppression campaigns which demanded the might of the Legiones Astartes to secure victory, but which carried little renown.”

New custom! Base figure is a Black Series Elite Squad trooper, bought some 3D printed parts from Coruscant Customs on Etsy, kitbashed some extra pieces and made a cloth kama. I was getting pretty frustrated when I first started this build since I wasn’t happy with the gray paints I had to use but I’m super super happy with the end result!

Last 2 pictures are the base figure before customizing

I made a Deathwatch Black Templar! This was pretty simple, a bulk of the work was fixing up the print lines on the head and shoulder, I got them printed free through my local library so I guess you get what you get. Getting the knee painted with the symbol was easy too. Fixing the helmet was pretty easy but when it came to the Inquisition symbol on the shoulder it was virtually impossible to smooth it out without losing the details. I’ll probably make more soon since they’re pretty simple.

I made a Blood Ravens Veteran! I’m pretty happy with this one, took a while because I have 5 other projects I’m working on (which is also why I haven’t been doing photography 😅)

Sorry for the lack of posting, like I said on my story yesterday I’ve been really into customizing my JOYTOY Astartes lately. Not to mention it’s been over 100F outside consistently.

I’ve also been trying to find places that can 3D print filesI found online so I’m trying different places nearby with varying levels of success. I’m finishing up a Blood Raven Veteran and trying to paint up some helmets and bolters I got, though the print quality wasn’t amazing (even though I thought I selected some decent quality specs for the print).

Once it’s done I’ll post some finished pics and stuff. If you read this thanks for sticking around!

“For many Legions we are forced to wonder at how truest loyalty can be turned to treachery, purest devotion to hate, nobility to wickedness, but for the Night Lords we must ask if their hearts always belonged to darkness. Created with a higher purpose perhaps their end could have been different, but their history is one of poisoned ideology and atrocity.”

I don’t care what anyone says about the new JOYTOY Night Lords, they’re my favorite and I’m SO happy they’re being made, I have an excuse to focus on practicing customizing now, too.
