"I believe that AI has the potential:
- to transform enterprise performance in key sectors,
- to improve public services,
- to support education and learning, and
- to reduce digital divides across the world."

Speaking at the International AI Conference in Dublin today, Taoiseach Micheál Martin launched a new programme, “Intelligence:Applied”, to accelerate AI adoption across the economy and public sector. We want to position Ireland as one of the world’s leading locations for responsible applied AI.

Ireland – Intelligence: Applied
Ireland is one of the world’s leading locations for building and applying responsible AI, at the centre of an EU AI Continent and as a global tech nation, with the people, economy, infrastructure and trusted eco-system to support a world where Intelligence is Applied.

Ireland has a long-standing reputation as a stable and high-quality regulatory and operational anchor for global technology in Europe. We have been at the cusp of each significant tech wave over the past four decades. Ireland already hosts more than 1,800 multinational companies, with a significant proportion in the digital sector.

The Government of Ireland will build on this success and unique ecosystem to make Ireland a leading applied trustworthy AI economy in the years ahead – for innovation, growth and competitiveness and to ensure AI improves the lives of our people and society. by @govie

The International AI Summit takes place in Dublin this week, on the 14th October, where Government of Ireland will announce the Intelligence:Applied programme under Digital Ireland.

Ireland is one of the world’s leading locations for building and applying responsible AI, at the centre of an EU AI Continent and as a global tech nation, with the people, economy, infrastructure and trusted eco-system to support a world where intelligence is applied.

Intelligence:Applied reflects the Government’s ambition for Ireland as the place to apply AI; at the centre of Europe’s AI Continent, with the people, economy, infrastructure and ecosystem to leverage the benefits of AI for growth, competitiveness, public services and society at large, building on trusted European foundations. It will include a series of new and accelerated actions for Ireland to realise this overall applied AI ambition, building on and reinforcing Digital Ireland, and supported at the highest levels of Government to ensure Ireland is where AI meets adoption, and where impact meets ambition. by @govie

Statement by Taoiseach Micheál Martin on Drumcree

The announcement by Secretary of State Chris Bryant regarding the Parades Commission’s determination in relation to Drumcree will come as a significant relief to the community on the Garvaghy Road.

It will also be a relief to people in communities right across Northern Ireland, and the island of Ireland as a whole, who were concerned that the situation at Drumcree, if left unresolved, could have had lasting negative repercussions on community relations and reconciliation.

These past weeks have been very difficult for the people living along the Garvaghy Road and I am glad that there is some closure for them today.

I want to acknowledge also that the Secretary of State’s decision will be a disappointment to some, including members of the Portadown Lodge and others.

The events of the past two weeks have been a stark reminder of the essential work of reconciliation. My focus in the time ahead will be to redouble efforts to build understanding and consensus across communities and political traditions around a shared future for all who live on this island. I encourage and welcome the participation of all political and community leaders in this work. by @govie
