Watch out as you explore the Conservatory – you may run into a Budding Botanist! On Saturdays and Sundays, 11am-3pm, Nature Educators will provide activities for kids of all ages at our Budding Botanists station. These programs are drop in and no registration is required. You can stop by and interact with the materials at the station for as long as you want to. by @gpconservatory

Join artist and educator Nikki Woloshyn, alongside our Nature Educators, as we explore the process of growing, harvesting and creating color in the world around us. Participants will experiment with a variety of natural dyes, and have the opportunity to create a mixed media artwork through process-based printmaking, collage and drawing. This worskop will take place August 1st, 9:30am-12:30pm and is suitable for Adults and Kids ages 5+. Register using the link in our bio. by @gpconservatory

Sending a huge thank you to the volunteers from @griffithfoods i! By helping fill a new garden bed with soil, this team helped create new opportunities for families to be part of the planting process. They also refreshed our dig pit in the Play & Grow Garden and pulled a significant number of weeds (at least 5 wheelbarrows full)! by @gpconservatory

🌺MEHENDI IN BLOOM🌸

🍃Join Chicago Mehfil and Garfield Park Conservatory & Gardens on August 22nd from 10 AM to 2 PM for an incredible live music lineup, jagua and henna artists, and a live dosa station!!
Learn about the cultural and historical use of jagua and mehendi while seeing the Lawsonia inermis plant growing right in front of your eyes in the Conservatory’s Artist’s Garden Show, Pigments!

🪷Event details:
Come join us at the Conservatory, in Horticulture Hall and the Artist’s Garden to support incredible henna artists who specialize in both jagua and henna to experience cross-cultural traditions on the West Side of Chicago!

During the event, make sure to stop by the live dosa stand and try traditional South Indian cuisine!
Throughout the day, you will enjoy a blend of traditional instruments from across Asia and Africa and end the afternoon dancing to an exclusive set from a beloved local DJ 😼

Don’t forget to take a stroll through the whole conservatory and garden show. Take in all the incredible plants used for natural dyes and more 🌱🌵

🎫Admission to the event, garden and live music performances are free. Getting henna done and food on site is available to all attendees at an extra cost.
