I’m so grateful to be named an Hour Detroit Top Doc once again!

This one means a lot because it’s voted on by fellow physicians in Wayne, Macomb, Oakland and other nearby surrounding counties.

As a dermatologist, this means that my colleagues recognize the excellent care I strive to provide for the patients they share with me.

And outside of positive patient reviews, (which I think are the highest compliment), this feels pretty good! by @gpdermdoc

👋 Hi 👋

I’m Dr. Meredith Price.

I’m a board-certified dermatologist with over 10 years of clinical experience.

I’m a physician, surgeon, and expert in the care of diseases of the skin, hair and nails.

I’m also a wife, mom, friend, athlete and community member.

I’m a science nerd at heart, and geek out over anything that touches on my background in cell and molecular biology.

I like to encourage curiosity in myself and others.

It’s my hope that you find this community we are building interesting, funny, and full of helpful information.

It’s my pleasure to take care of others, and I look forward to getting to know all of you here!

Our skin may require different products under different conditions.

As we enter colder drier weather months, making these adjustments can optimize the health of your barrier layer, allowing you to continue to tolerate actives (like retinol and glycolic acid) that you are accustomed to using.

Here’s just a few examples of what I’m reaching for this Fall. by @gpdermdoc

Happy Halloween 👻 🎃🫠

Who else has been personally victimized by an apricot scrub?!?

These are all things I see and handle IRL…which one is most terrifying to you?!?😱

Drop yours in the comments, I’ll go first!

Halloween, derm scares, what scares a dermatologist, Grosse pointe by @gpdermdoc

At a question and answer session after a speaking event, an attendee asked about regular sunscreen use and vitamin D deficiency.

And what a great question!

Overall, the average sunscreen user need not worry about causing a vitamin D deficiency.

One publication out of Australia showed that daily users of high level SPF had overall lower levels of vitamin D (by 2ng/mL on average) and were slightly more likely to be vitamin D deficient.

However, not all were, and some regular sunscreen users were.

Overall, there’s more to the story when it comes to your vitamin D levels.

Where you live, your lifestyle (indoor work/activities be outdoor) your diet all play a role.

And remember, you can get adequate vitamin D through your diet, without increasing your risk of skin cancer. Fish and eggs along with some fortified cereals are great sources.

If you’re concerned about your vitamin D levels, talk with your doctor and ask for a blood test.

I personally do not recommend supplements unless we know you need them! by @gpdermdoc

A great question from a patient.

Doc, do I really need to wear sunscreen everyday on all exposed skin?

What if I’m just driving from my home to my windowless office?😩

Acne can be such a frustrating condition to deal with.

I’ve seen acne have a major impact on people’s quality of life, affecting their confidence, their desire to be social.

And waiting for your results is hard to do.

But this is probably the biggest reason I love to treat acne.

Because seeing a patient really return to themselves and regain their confidence after achieving their acne treatment goals…there’s nothing like it! by @gpdermdoc

Long term sunscreen use has a huge payoff!

What do I mean by that?

I mean that wearing an SPF 30 on exposed skin (think face, neck, upper chest) will reduce visible signs of sun damage.

You might not appreciate it today or tomorrow…

…but talk to me in 20 years!

It’ll be in the form of a thank you note.😉 by @gpdermdoc

Biostimulatory fillers like Sculptra work differently than your traditional hyaluronic acid filler.

Injected into the skin, they stimulate new collagen and elastin over time.

Since it takes even the healthiest person 6-12 weeks to make new collagen, the results take some time.

With a series of treatments and regular maintenance we can keep the collagen production going!
