One year later, and our trip to New Zealand still feels a little like a dream come true ❤️‍🔥

We packed in all the different paddling adventures our hearts (and bodies) could manage on our 3 week road trip. From wild rivers with gushing waterfalls, to peaceful lakes punctuated by hidden stone carvings, to turquoise seas cutting into the landscapes… so many miles, so many laughs, so many memories that I wish I could keep reliving over and over again.

Some places you simply visit. Some places become a part of you and leave you forever changed.

NZ, we will be back 🫶

Nature doesn’t hand out easy meals.

We watched this osprey lock onto a fish, crash into the water, and lift off with it clutched in its talons. For a moment, it looked like the fish might actually win the battle, thrashing hard enough that it nearly escaped - twice. A little while later, we spotted the osprey again, perched with its catch, half the fish’s head already gone.

A raw reminder that every meal in the wild is earned, and every creature is fighting to survive. The beauty of nature isn’t just in the landscapes, it’s in moments like these. taken in Green River, Flaming Gorge Dam by @gpnew82

Smashing through Lunch Counter on the Snake River, Jackson, WY. This section of the snake was ripping at ~10,300 CFS and made for some exciting big water paddling on the Atcha 8’6”. Can’t wait to come back!!

Paddling down the Yampa River through Dinosaur National Monument, CO was only part of the adventure. Side canyons led us to historic cabins, refreshing waterfalls, sweeping views, natural bridges, and ancient pictographs. From bighorn sheep navigating cliffs high above, friendly snakes at camp (who kept coming back even when relocated), bald eagles keeping watch of the canyon from above, and countless families of geese, every bend in the river seemed to reveal another surprise. Dinosaur NM has a way of making you slow down, look around, and appreciate the beauty of our protected lands. taken in Dinosaur National Monument by @gpnew82

A few days deep in the permitted section of the Yampa River Canyon through Dinosaur National Monument — where the walls get taller, the current sets the pace, and the outside world fades a little more with every bend. 44 miles of water carried us through one of the last truly wild rivers in the West. taken in Yampa River Colorado by @gpnew82
