Moving into sculpture is a move from experience toward articulation.
Sculpture does not represent the body, it holds a process.

Photography (by @oleg_batrakov ) that documents this process as part of the sculpture—
it comes out of a dialogues about how a state can become understandable,
about understanding as something that follows experience, rather than replacing it.

Dialogue is impossible without the other

Thanks to @oleg_batrakov , whose participation became part of this dialogue and this process.

“Open End” is a solo exhibition of a single work that took place at @thenakedroomkyiv . It ran for three days, from April 9 to 11. The exhibition featured the work “Place.”

A wax sculpture made from beeswax and microcrystalline wax, accompanied by hand-printed photographs of the process.

I’m grateful to @thenakedroomkyiv , @marielanko , @tretiakov_antiq , @ankovych for the opportunity to present the work

to @oleg_batrakov who took part in the conversations that preceded its making, as well as in documenting the process at different stages.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to engage with it.

«Open End» Івана Грабка @grabkoivan — 9–11 квітня в The Naked Room на Золотоворітській, 2а.

Виставка однієї роботи продовжує і розвиває ідеї попереднього проєкту «Wonderwall», що відбувався в покинутій будівлі на Великій Житомирській у листопаді минулого року.

«У проміжку між епохою руйнування і нашим часом, який поки неможливо означити, мислення відривається від об’єкта й рухається до суб’єкта — як тимчасової скульптури. Час втрачає риси руйнування й набуває рис збирання», — коментує художник.
