Going through photos and 3 years ago this past January I was just getting back from a month long mission trip to South Africa through @impact360fellows. This was by FAR my favorite trip I’ve ever taken yet because of the people, worship, and the mission to serve, and community. I was graciously given the opportunity to lead as our group’s worship leader, and it was my first time not only leading as the main worship leader, but being overseas, AND leading with my guitar!
I’ll never forget the 100x paper towels I had to use to keep it safe (guitar players understand 😭😂).

Here are my Highlights:
- Penguins!! Can you believe?
- Lots of jokes made about boba with tapioca pearls
- Pics with a few friends: Kylie @ KJ
- Team Joy (appropriately named) cheering on one of our team leaders Jason 😂🤍
- We went to both Hillsong Campuses in Capetown! 🤍
- Waves in the windy season (I wanted to surf
- More friends!
- Pictures from Truth Cafe (3 story coffee shop in Cape-town. So fun to explore- but I don’t like coffee. 😂)
- I remember being so shocked not just by the living conditions but the sweetness and joy that everyone carried. We had some girls request last minute songs, and so on the fly we used the 1 phone we kept with our leader, and I wrote down the chords in my journal. It was such a gift and I’ll always treasure it.
- I got to meet my South African cousin for the first time! Family is so important to me and to meet family I’ve never met was the BEST. She’s so funny and has the best conversations
- 🤍 Love the kids
- This random guy who we met at Mcdonald’s who loved Americans (can confirm McDonald’s is just as good in South Africa and in the US, if not better. I love the Mcflurries.)
- My devo spot each morning for a month. So beautiful & peaceful🙃

Joyful updates in my life! Happy moments leading up to the new year!!
- My performance at Mason Music ! (I’ve Seen It x The Gospel Changes Everything)
- My family and our Christmas card from us to you. In February. LOL.
- I tried painting with a coworker !! Thank you, @sipsnstrokesbham 🤍
- Felt pretty!! 🌸
- Love all the grandview girls and our student Christmas party 🫶🏼
- Laughing with @lilykauffman_ 😂🥰
- Expectation... & then Christmas tree ornament pose reality... Just being silly.
- My Grandmother’s classic Christmas Village & Statue of Liberty!!
- Just laughing with strangers after we (I) got/asked our boat captain to honk for us 😂 #teamwork
- NYC with my family & my mini me (she even copies how I dress now....)
- MORE NYC. I love it. The speed, the colors, the lights, the sounds, the side vendor bartering (but River messed up my flow), and the culture!!!
- This walkway... STUNNING
- LOVING NYC and its food and culture! New favorite spot is in Chinatown!

5. I took my sister Black Friday shopping 💪🏼
6. All of the 8th grade Grandview girls and student leaders. Big shoutout to my HC girls who help out. I truly love leading this group SO much- it is the BIGGEST joy.
7. The time @devynrmueller and @maggi3patti and I all matched, and for Devyn it was our 4th time matching 😂
8. The book of Daniel. This one has been on 🔂
9. Learning all I can, on stage with worship team and off stage with production team!

2. A note from one of my favorite books I’m reading- Slow Burn, by @dawnchere .

When discussing strength, Dawncheré beautifully writes:

“What should have destroyed you will grow you. What should have defeated you will strengthen you. Because you are established in him (Pg 70).” Jesus heals where the enemy tries to steal, kill, or destroy. God is good!!!

She also later writes, “God’s strength becomes a reality when you realize just how weak you are.... He’s waiting for you to surrender to His strength.” (Pg 158). If my weakness reveals God’s strength, then I am ready to be weak if that means He is strong. God. Is. GOOD!!! I hate sin but man I LOVE Jesus!

I find it beautiful how God has placed music in our hearts, to sing His praises and to give life to our earthly bodies, souls, and minds. He is a healer when I need healing, an anchor for my hurried thoughts, and so full of love. God is good!!! (2/3) taken in Birmingham, Alabama by @grace__sands

Lil birthday shoot with my brother @river_sands because 21 is fun!!!! ❕🎉✨
Man I just am thrilled. Many of my friends live hours and even states away, and days like these make me miss them so much, although I know I will see them soon. I’m so grateful to have such an encouraging support system .

Got to see so many faces who mean so much to me. & since all my close friends and I are off 3hours+ apart of each other living out our separate goals, dreams, and aspirations, it was SO sweet to see a few of them! 🤍 Always grateful. taken in Birmingham, Alabama by @grace__sands

God is doing a NEW THING in Highlands Students. My faith is stirred like never before for our generation. A new thing for our church, worship, messages, and for our students at 252.
