Designed with a detachable sole, these shoes aim to break the bug and throw away habit around summer footwear. Solestice is designed to reposition summer shoes to be a reliable item that can serve the user in the same way as a favourite pair of winter boots, reflecting the same sense of connection. The modular design creates a tradition of care and maintenance so that the shoes can be resoled and reworn summer after summer, and allows for each part of the shoe to be disposed of separately. No glue, all stitching. by @gracebd__

I’m excited to share the second of my two graduate projects from UAL! This was my first time ever designing shoes which was so fun as well as challenging, and made me realise how little I knew about footwear. I can’t wait to share more from this project!

roommate was designed in response to ‘the death of the living room’ and the impact it is having on student living. The seat consists of a collapsible wooden frame which is completed with a duvet to create a temporary living space in a student bedroom. The collapsibility of the design allows for the transition between a personal and a shared space, ensuring that both of these boundaries are protected. Through this, it aims to better facilitate social gatherings in shared student homes that don’t have living rooms, as a means for preserving moments of meaningful connection. by @gracebd__
