can hardly believe margot & jones are six months old! and still can’t believe they are mine!!

exactly a year ago today I had my first ultrasound, where we got the shock of a lifetime seeing TWO babies! twins!!! No fertility drugs, no twins on either side of the family & NO idea that this would be our life.

Vulnerable moment ahead- being a twin mom has been a different version of motherhood than I ever could have imagined for myself. I am overcome with gratitude for two precious babies, making it to 37 weeks (!), no bedrest, leaving the hospital together, almost five months of breastfeeding, and so many amazing people showing up and caring for us here in Lynchburg. We are beyond blessed. But in some ways, being a mom to twins has also been one of the loneliest and hardest things I’ve walked through. A C-section, a short NICU stay for Marg, teeny tiny babies, hemorrhage, a hospitalization for Jones, another surgery for me, being 1000 miles from family, navigating breastfeeding with small, sleepy twins and delayed production (😵‍💫), sooooo many sleepless nights, finishing up my second year of med school while still wearing a diaper lol, comparing myself to singleton moms, the sheer logistics of having two infants with the same needs at the same time, missing out on the lazy newborn snuggles because another infant needed me, unsure how to respond when i’m met with “I always wanted twins!!” , the inability to go anywhere that isn’t double stroller friendly….the list goes on. It’s definitely easy to feel a bit of grief to not be able to experience having one baby at a time, but wow i’m so grateful for this unique gift!

I guess I just wanted to reflect a bit on the last six months of having twins and say that if your version of motherhood is different than you had envisioned, you’re allowed to feel grief and be so thankful for the gift of motherhood at the same time! This sure is the ultimate form of sanctification.

anyways… six months! so excited to watch their little lives unfold. loving them is my great honor!! by @gracebee_marrs

well, I finished up OMS-2 today at exactly 7 weeks postpartum. Without a doubt two of the hardest things i’ve ever done I did this year… at the same time; passed second year of medical school, and grew & had twins !

Thank you, Jesus for being faithful through all the late nights, exhaustion, hospitalizations, exams, OSCEs…. may it all be for You. Looking forward to the next few months of just soaking up being a momma and slowly but surely preparing for my first round of board exams! by @gracebee_marrs

Got a little break from medical school for the past six weeks with much rest, many blessings, as well as grief 🕊️

Our hearts have been aching as we grieve the loss of our first pregnancy. These kinds of things aren’t supposed to happen to young, healthy women, but they do. The Lord has been near to me these weeks, but I know our little family will never quite feel complete here on earth.

I wasn’t sure I would share about this challenge- but if it helps just one woman feel less alone, then that is worth it.

I have also had many days of joy this summer. Traveling to Texas, California, spending time with family and friends, baking, growing beautiful flowers, shadowing in pediatric neurology, playing with Curtis… and I am thankful.

No one ever cared for me like Jesus. 🤎🕊️ by @gracebee_marrs

a very merry Christmas from Jerry, Grace & Curtis Marrs! 🫶🏼🎄

phew. It’s been a big year. We moved to Virginia, Jerry started a wonderful new job, I completed my first semester of medical school (!), we bought a home, got a puppy, and are learning more more about how to do this whole adult thing.

It’s been a challenging past few months- but wow i’m thankful. Each day, the Lord is quite literally holding us up with his hands. Medical school is absolutely incredible (and the hardest thing i’ve ever done). Marriage is sanctifying, & being a dog mom is a lot more work than I thought!!

Anyways, Merry Christmas & happy new year, freinds

Caleb is 2!!

Happy birthday to this sweet boy who holds a big piece of my heart. Caleb, you are brave, silly, tender hearted, smart, an overcomer, and so much more. I am forever thankful for how our paths crossed- you have blessed my life immensely.

May you continue to grow up knowing that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by Jesus & you are loved beyond measure. Celebrating you is the best!! I can’t wait to see you and all your new tricks in a few weeks! 🥳
