Hi beautiful people!!! Happy Wednesday! I wanted to give everyone a little more insight into who I am. My midwifery origin story always starts as “I was the child who instead of fighting to watch The Powerpuff Girls (which I enjoyed btw, team Blossom), I wanted to watch ‘A Baby Story’ instead.” But honestly, my journey into midwifery was destined way before that. When my mom was in labor with me and facing complications, it was a midwife who stayed at my mom’s side. I guess the grace that was on her fell on me because I always tell people one of my super powers is making people feel comfortable. Too often, minorities hold horror stories of terrible treatment they have received and I pride myself in treating each of my patients as if they are a family member. Pregnancy and birth can be so anxiety provoking, but my mission is to make this journey one that is enjoyable and filled with ease for my clients.

Aside from my nurturing personality, I am a self proclaimed nerd, especially over things I am passionate about. I usually want to educate everyone on the things I’m passionate about and one of those just happens to be women’s health. I can literally go on and on about women’s health and will do just that through Graced to Bloom.

Honestly, I’m just a woman who God implanted a passion in and gave a vision to. I’m just here doing what He’s instructed and watching in awe as He births this out of me. So thank you for coming along for the journey!💐

I’m not here to hate on pitocin. She and I aren’t homegirls, but we have an understanding. And that’s what I want you to have also, and understanding of the part Pitocin may play during your hospital delivery. So here’s the facts:

💐Pitocin is the synthetic form of the hormone oxytocin that causes uterine contractions.

💐Pitocin is used during labor inductions and augmentations to help stimulate the body to produce its own oxytocin and promote the positive feedback mechanism that’s seen during labor until delivery is complete.

💐When used for induction or augmentation, pitocin is titrated or adjusted every 30min to get you in a good contraction pattern. We don’t use more than we have to.

💐Pitocin is also given right after delivery as a uterotonic to help prevent postpartum hemorrhaging by causing the uterus to continue contracting to prevent excessive bleeding.

💐In situations where there is no IV access, pitocin can be given by an intramuscular shot either in the arm or thigh.
