my student’s improvement from week 1 to week 6 of my class. she had zero experience with ceramics coming into this class & we had a blast troubleshooting the tough parts of wheelthrowing, & i loved watching her grow her technique + mindset about being creative :) i’m teaching another 6wk adult/teen beginner wheelthrowing class saturdays from 3:30-6pm at @gooddirtla starting this month—signup is now open!! if any of you are interested in learning the basics of wheelthrowing so you can become more confident in making your own personal projects, this is where you can learn. plus we have fun 😎 feel free to dm w questions! taken in Good Dirt LA by @gracegooddrawer

The other fun thing i tried this summer was writing my first personal essay a few months back—one year after graduating from college—based on a call with my dad. I’ve continually found it interesting to watch how differently this specific, short life phase has been playing out for me vs. for him—relationships, location, sense of self, regrets, & reactions to our own experiences of aloneness. working in nonprofit admin for a year now has meant i spend a lot of time editing grant proposals so it felt cool to try something personal for a change. Plus, writing really matter-of-factly(?) & genuinely about being this age feels like the opposite of Zilennial emotional commodification/trivialization on social media which i like.
