Still trying to make sense of 71M people voting for a racist, misogynist, convicted felon.

Yes, the DNC did not set her up for success.
Yes, she ran an incredible campaign for having only ~100 days.
Yes, her message did not resonate with people who are more worried about the price of gas than basic human rights.

No, I should not be surprised by white “Christian” women who believe it is their place to submit to their husbands and stay in the pews because they have no place at the pulpit.

As a white person, with a Christian upbringing, I’m trying to understand my role in all of this. I’m astonished that people can be so easily divided by fear instead of loving our neighbors—especially our trans neighbors and our migrant neighbors.

But I know one thing, our role is not to scroll on social media—it will literally get us nowhere.

As Stacey Abrams said, “it’s time to focus on the 60M not the 71M.”

It’s time to build connections and coalitions to resist authoritarianism, uplift our marginalized neighbors, and the fight for a more just world. by @gracejohnsondzn

“Justice is what love looks like in public”

I was inspired by @brothercornelwest when I watched his interview on @breakfastclubam

He’s running as a candidate for President in the Green Party. There’s always the argument that a 3rd party candidate takes away votes from the democratic candidate. Who’s to say when ~30-40% of the population doesn’t turnout to participate?

Just because Biden isn’t spewing hateful, bigoted, racist, transphobic rhetoric like Trump in his time in office doesn’t mean the hate goes away. It’s just a little more quiet.

Dr. West says “every democratic administration is just a postponement of fascism.”

To me, a lot of democrats are the white moderate stumbling block that Martin Luther King Jr. talked about.

We desperately need to expand our vision outside of the two party system that’s dominated by corporate greed.

We need a leader who’s rhetoric is about loving, affirming, and empowering those who have been pushed to the margins. Or as Jesus called them, “the least of these.” by @gracejohnsondzn
